I have been back for a while now but had no time to post until now. We hunted with Safari Trackers out of Bulowayo in the Kwekwe and Shangoni areas. I went for leopard but the cats would not play along. We had a male and female feeding the day before I arrived but nothing hit the baits when I was there. I did see tracks of other leopards and lion but we think they were just passing through the area. I did some bird shooting in the kwekwe camp as well as decreased the monkey and baboon population by a few. I shot one zebra to refresh the baits and was forced to shoot a young female zebra that was caught in two poachers snares. The other members of our hunting party did well at the Kwekwe camp. between the three of them they took 1 kudu, 2 trophy zebra, 1 croc, 3 monkey, and many birds. With a couple of days left a good friend and PH Spike Claassen got permission to take myself and another hunter to the Shangaoni camp for some plains game. While there Andy took a nice kudu and Impala and I got 2 impala, 1 duiker, 1 springhare, and a warthog. The highlight of the trip for me was on the last day when we got my second impala. I is a non-typical with one horn bending off to the side. It is the first non-typical animal I have ever taken and plan to do a full mount of it. Overall I had a very good hunt and can't wait to go back again in two years. I will not go for just 7 days again. The next time will be for at least 14 days. I will post some pictures of the hunt a little later when I get them in order. | ||
