I am considering a 2005 hunt in Lemco. Either with HHK or John Sharpe. Has anyone ever hunted this area? Any insights versus Matetsi? I want a 10 day Buff + Plains game hunt. From what I can tell Lemco is better than Matetsi or Zambezi in terms of plains game quality and quantity. Possibly not quite as good for DG, but higher odds hunt. But still, quality African experience. Let me know if I am mistaken. Wiould this be a good venue for wifes' first african safari?

Hugh,
My wife and I recently hunted with John Sharp at Malagana which I believe is near Lemco. This area is for plains game and there is plenty there. If you want to hunt buffalo his concession is in Dande North. My wife had the time of her life as well as I did on this adventure.

Hugh,
I hunted the Lemco ten years ago. It was fantastic then and I hear it's only gotten better. Reading my log from that hunt, we averaged seeing 20 kudu bulls a day! The game was spectacular. I hunted with John Greeff as my PH, but I've heard nothing but good reports on HHK and John Sharp, my advice is "Go for it!"

Ray,

I am not willing to condemn HHK based on speculation because Mr. Hingston (HHK) seems to be running a very fine safari company.

Give us some facts. If all I have in front of me is inuendo, then my conscience says not to smear the name of a reputable man, or deny him his livelihood.

We need facts.

Who lost what lease and under what circumstances? Did the subsequent owner of the lease exert undue influence to obtain it?

Personally I suspect HHK controls so many safari areas for 3 reasons:

1. They are well funded and can invest in quality concessions.

2. They have a good reputation and can sell their hunts.

3. Their are efficiently managed and have profits left at the end of the year to invest in new concessions.

But if I am wrong, I want to know. Tell me.
