OK, now that I got the photos up, some details.
This was a hunt offered here on AR as a 7 day buffalo hunt from Federico Gellini Tanzania Safaris. The PH is JD Andrews. After making a few e-mails and phone calls for references, I decided to make it 14 days and go.

For a rifle I picked up a Dakota 97 in 375 H&H with a 22" barrel, open sights, and put a trijucon 1x4x33mm scope with qd rings. Ammo was hand loads. I found 300 gr swift a frame and north fork cup point solids came to the same poi. Then I shot that thing a lot!
When I arrived, things were exactly as JD had promised. the buffalo were very concentrated in the area around camp. both herds and duga boys were seen on all but two days.

Of the animals seen, but not hunted, we saw one exceptional Kudu, and two very large Sable.
Everything about the camp, equipment, and staff was great! I think I gained weight on the food. The flies weren't too bad and the heat wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. We were in camp every day for lunch except two.
The wart hog and heartebeest were both short stalks, shot from the sticks between 60 to 80 yards. The zebra turned out to be the most challenging. We did a total of 8 stalks, some long and some just long enough to see that we were made and never had a chance. But in the end, we had a strong wind in our face when we spotted a small group before they spotted us. After a 300 or so yard crawl and a bit of discussion between JD and the tracker I was told to shoot he one in the back. As I eased up on the sticks, he spotted me, but too late. One good shot at 50 yards, he ran about 100 yards and was dead. I was surprised at how good the meat tasted later!
The buffalo was by far the most exciting. On the first day we tracked two animals for 15 to 20 minuets that were then joined by a third. At this time the tracks picked up speed. After a bit, it was decided that we would back off, come back later and pick them up in hopes that they relaxed and we could catch up. We did that after lunch, but the tracks never did slow down, so we headed back to camp.
Second day we saw a big herd,( I am guessing 40+)
and went to take a look. We ended up following them around for a couple hours. We could see no good bulls, and I told JD I was more interested in finding duga boys anyway. We didn't find any more buff that day, but did see a nice bull elephant.
third day we saw one bull a few minutes from camp and the hunt was on. We were on his tracks and they slowed to a walk right away, but after about 30 minutes or so he went into a huge patch of thick grass. We spent a good half hour looking, but couldn't pick up his tracks, so back to the truck.
We passed another small herd, then a little bit further we jumped two bulls right in front of the truck. They took off straight away from us. We shut the truck off and followed. We hadn't gone far and the tracks slowed down to a walk, then started to wander. About then JD motioned for me to look to my left, and there in a small clearing was the back end of a bull headed back the way we had come from. Looking closer, we could see both bulls, heads down tails switching, about 40 yards away. figuring they would do something soon, I positioned my self for a shot in a large clearing ahead of the first bull. But they didn't move, so we inched up closer. Now we are at (ranged later )32 yards. JD asked if I had a shot from where I was, I just shook my head, got down on my knees and started moving to my right until I had a clear sight of my bull. At this point I whispered when I shoot, you shoot to JD. Bang, I shot, he shot, I shot and the bull was down right there. I stood up and the other bull trotted out to my right and I couldn't resist, I shot, JD shot. This one turned back behind the bush he came from and headed straight away.At that moment I started putting more shells in my rifle, JD told the trackers to keep him in sight, I hollered don't get in front of me, and for JD to make sure that one (the first one we shot) was dead. When I got the bull in sight he was walking fast up a small incline. I sat down and shot, he went to a slow walk, shot again and he stopped, shot one more time and he went down. Just then JD Came by and said hurry. We ran up and around to the side of the bull while I put more ammo in, then I put two more in him just to be sure, but I think he was pretty much dead by then. Ibrahame, one of the trackers ran up to me and with a big grin on his face said "I love a dead Duga Boy!"

Classic. You shot the hippo in quite a tight corner.

Not often you shoot a couple of buffalo together and well done.

Congrats to you ,sir. Great trip. As for the zebra, they have to be the most underrated plains game out there. Free range zebra are damn hard to get close to.

You and Walter have funny tastes to think zebra is best!

Eland has no comparison, followed by buffalo.

The trick with zebra meat is to ensure that every scrap of that yellow fat is removed before cooking because a single scrap of it will ruin the whole joint but get it all off and it's quite palatable.

Have to agree with Saeed about eland meat which has to be the very best........ as for buffalo: I reckon the tongue (pressed) and tail (in soup) are both fabulous but the bit in between is only good for bait!

Zebra is more than palatable to my taste. In Tanz I requested it for dinner on three occasions only because we ran out of Bushbuck.

I have to admit one thing. being a rancher, we eat mtn. oysters. so, when I go on guided hunts, my opportunity to be a smart ass is to show every body that I can eat the nuts from about anything that walks the earth. Up to now, I have always been successful, and even created a few converts. But, the wart hog kicked my ass! I couldn't get that taste out of my mouth for a week!

The way I view it is that I shoot enough meat that I don't have to eat that stuff!

Here you go. Dylan had our game scout cook these beauties up from one of Walters Buff. I didn't mind it to tell the truth once I got over the thought of what they were.

Great report and photos ,in Argentina the balls of bull are considered a delicious meat .You must visit my ranch during the YERRA .

Yeah, that double dugga boy hunt was tons of fun! As you saw, we have some bigger, wider buffalo bulls there. But bagging them would not have been quite so much fun & excitement I think!!
Kilwa in late October & November has the very best Buffalo hunting I ever seen anywhere(and I've hunted a lot of good blocks)!! Federico & I will be offering some more hunts on AR early in 2015.
