The pain will diminish over time and again, the best tonic is to schedule another buff hunt and put this one behind you.

I've wrecked a couple of airplanes in my career. When that happened, I got right back in another one and flew it.

When a horse throws you, get back on and ride him.

When a hunt goes bad, schedule another one and go get that buff.

Good luck and thanks for the informative story.

An unarmed PH?? Not legal in zim. You are requred to be armed...and if something goes wrong and you are not, you will be held accountable. It makes me wonder who the 'outfitter' was? Not 'Storm' by any chance?

For a legitimate PH there are few things worse than guiding in a marginal area or even worse, a patchwork of farms where you cannot hunt the primary species on all the properties. Inevitably you will have all the plains game you want but the main animals will only be where you cannot hunt them.

At various times past (when broke) I have hunted for "up-and-coming", "new" or "only too well known" operators with marginal areas. It eventually sunk in that actually it simply wasn't worth it. The hunts are not fun, I am stressed, the client soon works out that things are not as they should be and he is stressed...And if there isn't a good trophy in the salt at the end of the hunt, all too often the PH (not the operator) takes the blame. The fact that there has been no name calling here is a credit to the hunter! ( I suspect it is more than due- at least the operator should be named as a fair warning to other forum members) I have seen a hugely experienced culling officer called 'a Tyro PH' in a sports afield article when the client booked a hunt in a marginal area and didn't get his elephant!

This classic example of to much "Book" experience. Form reading the story it looks like your friend caused most of his problems.
I do respect your friend for understanding he had been a jerk (His words).
With very limited big game experience you have to trust your guide!

I certainly hope you are going with a different outfit.

While a poor shot was made, I perceive the major problem was with the outfitter.

"Sitting around drinking beer", "afternoon sitting around the water hole", "I was first up sitting by the fire before the rest appeared", "Giant of a man".

Maybe I am being over critical, but each of the statements indicate serious issues with the whole outfit.

Just my humble opinion. Frowner

Surely as a good friend to you, he would say who the Phs were...atleast so you wouldn`t get tangled up in the same experience, very normal...wouldn`t you say??.

This "friend" of Peters wasn`t all un-experienced.

This trip had been three years in the planning and during that time I had made three Safaris to Africa, two for plains game and one for Ellie, all had been successful. I have harvested over one hundred head of big game, in Europe and North America. I have a good practical knowledge of rifles, bullets and ballistics, I have carefully studied Kevin Robinson’s books as well as several others. .

since it seems that you have a problem with me, and apparently wont use my home phone number to tell me about it, please put me on ignore, or be a man and call me and tell me what your problem is.
