The owner's have asked to help fill next month, July, with some hunts. Otjikoko is a 65,000 acre hunting and game farm outside Omaruru, Namibia. It is Namibia's best kept hunting secret.

I was able to enjoy a very successful plains game hunt in May. My hunting partner and I booked for 12 days, but got everything we wanted in 4, due to the abundance of game and minimal hunting pressure. Hunting is a hobby for the owners, who limit to only 25 hunters total per season, Feb. to Nov.

Kudu,oryx,warthog,springbok,impala,steenbok, and damara dik dik are abundant thru out the property.

12,500 acres within the farm is kept in high fence to contain black wildebeest, blue wildebeest, eland, and waterbuck. Baboon and jackal shooting is unlimited and free. The abundance of antelope retains a fairly high population of leopard in and around the general area. I was very very fortunate to take a tom leopard weighing 147.4 lbs. We came across a fresh drag and within 500 yds. found the partially eaten carcass of a baby oryx. A blind was hastily constructed. The PH, Tommy Hall, was confident that the cat would return soon to finish off his meal. I warned him that I only had a 2 hr. butt. He brought a special cushion to extend my butt another 30 minutes which would be when the light failed.

We got to the blind at 3:45 PM. The cat showed up at 4:15PM.

Tommy Hall is resident farm manager and PH. He is one of 15 Namibian PH's who is licensed for all big 5. He is a 5th generation Namibian, speaks several bush dialects, and spent many years as a conservation officer.

The accomodations are first class. You have private rooms and bath, daily maid and laundry service, and the food is all restaurant quality prepared by a German chef. The daily rate is very low at $250 for 1 x 1 and $190 for 2 x 1.
Trophy fees are also on the low side.
