Has anyone hunted with Erden Hunting in Namibia? I am thinking of booking a plains game hunt in 2010. Thanks

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. But no it is not Eden but Erden Hunting. I have a good reference for them and know one of their US guides who works for them during our summer months but was looking for more information.

I doubt that a "U.S. guide" can legitimately work for them. My understanding is that it would be difficult to get a work visa for any kind of farm/outdoors work in Namibia for anyone who is not a resident on an extended basis. Also, Namibian law restricts guide licenses to permanent residents or people who have "extended stay" work visas. Perhaps your acquaintence "works" for them informally and receives compensation in the form of room, board, and hunting; but as far as formal employment compensated with money, I think he would have to be there for more than just a summer at a time. "Employing" a U.S. guide raises some questions, but that is not to say that Erden is not legitimate and their relationship with the U.S. citizen is not legal.

Do they have a website you could refer us to?

Well said Stonecreek I can just add to that; in order to guide any hunter in Namibia you have to successfully complete a written and practical Ministry of Environment and Tourism Hunting Guide / PH exam, no person who is not a Namibian citizen or Permanent resident will be considered for the MET exams.

A qualified PH from any other country must be accompanied by a Namibian PH during the entire hunt.

All the best
