Roger,

My husband and I were in Chirisa during August 2000 for his lion/buffalo hunt. We are hunting Chirisa March 2007. Bull elephant for my husband and buffalo for me. Of the places we have seen in Zimbabwe, Chirisa is our favorite.

Best of luck on your hunt.

I have just got back from there.
Hunted buff with a client. We stayed in HHKs Ingwe Lodge.
Saw a fair amount of buff, but not too many Dagga boys, they were still skulking in the Jesse and had not come out to join the herds yet. Those bulls we did see were mostly immature with soft bosses. We managed a 37" bull on the 4th day of the safari. the animals were very touchy, probably as a result of the full season and being chased around, and the poachers, plenty of.
We saw a couple of elly, only the one bull running about 25lbs. But we saw a lot of spoor, with buff and elly starting to come out of the mopani into the sandy areas after the rain.

we were there hunting lion in early june of 2000 and the bush was so heavy that eles weren't to visable, but we sure got chased by them enough. beautiful area if you go there be sure to take lots of pictures, just the bird life along the river is fantastic. If you've got any desire to shoot hippo, this is the #1 place.
