Any info on a bowhunting outfit in africa for a 2009 hunt. We will be bowhunting only and would prefer an outfit that does only bowhunting on their concessions. Any info would be great. Wives will be tagging along so the accomodations need to be upscale. Thanks Slasher Doug Klunder

Look at this websight http://www.limcroma.com/ I was on a rifle hunt with them but the majority of there areas are bowhunting only and all the other guys in camp were bowhunters. I had a fantastic time and the game quality and camp is great. Here is a link to my trophies with another link to my hunt report. https://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/1821043/m/292104377

One thing I would add is to determine what kind of hunt you want on the front end and then find your outfitter. Ie- do you want to sit in a blind over water or bait? Do you want to spot and stalk? Do you want free range or a fenced operation (not an invitation to debate whether fencing is fair chase or not)? When I was looking for a bowhunt in Africa, I decided that I didn't want to go with the majority of the bow outfits because I wanted to hunt wide open spaces and not sit in the "Black Mamba blind" where Joe Blow from Greenbo, Alabama shot a 56 inch kudu and 25 inch impala last wednesday. I ended up booking a hunt with Greg Butler Safaris in Botswana. Wonderful experience. Extremely challenging hunt. PM me if you want more particulars. I just went in August.

I'd suggest you give Ron Oliver a call. He posts here; just do a search on his name. He books for a number of outfitters who have bowhunting concessions, including dangerous game. His hunters took two very nice tuskers this year (Pete Shepley was one of them).

I second Postdriver , here is the link to Ron Oliver Ron Oliver A fantastic PH, a stunning archer and Bowhunter Tristan Peacock , zimhound@mweb.co.zw internationally renowned for leopard hunts but very competent in bowhunting and any DG hunting. He is on a regular basis asked to test archery products on DG and is doing extensive researches on penetration and shot placement. He is offering hunts in many places and not stuck on whatever concession. I second Limcroma, the bow areas are bow only. I was there in Sept 07 and hunted with a rifle on his other concessions, my buddies Terry and Gus hunted with a bow. Here is a link to a few of the trophies we took. http://safaritaxidermy.com/Our_2007_African_Safari.php We are going back in 09.

Interesting thread. I've seen so much footage of guys shooting from blinds at waterholes that I had almost forgotten there are other ways to bowhunt in Africa. The blinds kind of leave me cold. There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

I hunted with Bushmen Safaris last year, but have heard good things about Dries Visser, Ken Moody and Rhinoland Safaris. Ron Oliver has some incredible sable at around $3500.00. Try bowsite.com and ask the same question. Youll get a broader picture as its geared nearly exclusively to bowhunters. Hugh Pro Staff for: In Natures Image Taxidermy

I'm not an archer, however, the outfitters we have hunted with in RSA, Limpopo Region, are well set up for archery hunts, blinds near every waterhole, and well qualified hunters. Check the website for bushafricasafaris. If you want to bring the wife or significant other, they are well qualified to accommodate them as well with very comfortable facilities and trips to other sites. Check out Schalk Van Heerden, a good man! LLS
