First of all I would like to thank Chris owner and operator for a fantastic hunt. Chris delivered everything he said he would and more. Lodging and meals were excellent as well as the staff and game. I would also like to thank David Keith, with out his help and guidence this trip would have never happened. David spent alot of time on the phone and emails with me in order to make sure everything went as planned. I would also like to thank Kathi Klimes for making our travel arrangements.
Three of us were hunting on this trip, My father his best friend and myself. We all hunted for plains game only. I took Nyala, Kudu, black and blue wildebeest, warthog, Impala, Eland, and Blesbok. My father took Kudu, Nyala, Red Heartebeest, Waterbuck, Impala, Eland, Blue and Black Wildebeest, and warthog. Our friend Art took Zebra, Nyala, blue and black Wildebeest, Impala, Blesbok, Red Heartebeest, and waterbuck. Chris runs a first class operation and I hope to hunt with him again. This all started 16 months ago when I got permission from the BOSS that I could go. With many phone calls and head scratching decided to book with Chris Troskie Safaris (Blessing in desguise) The day of May 22nd finally arrived and was on the plane for a short ride across the little pond (23 hours total fly time)Chris meet us at the airport and got us thru the gun permits and then on to camp in the Natal area. After a 4 1/2 hour drive we were finally there. After a few hours of sleep we sighted in our guns and off hunting we went. I harvested my Blue Wildebeest on the second morning of the hunt 338 with 225gr at 175yds did the trick. The evening of the second day I was able to harvest a fantastic Nyala 27-1/2". Day three hunted for Zebra with no luck not from lack of animals it just didn't work out. Also at this camp my father and friend also harvested a Nyala, and Blue Wildebeest each and our friend also got his zebra.
The next morning it was time to move on to another area to chase Black Wildebeest, red heartebeest,and blesbok. On the afternoon of the 4th day I harvested my Black at 375yds with my 338 our friend also got his black the same day and my father got his red heatebeest. On day 5 My father got his Black and our friend got his Black and blesbok. I missed a really good blesbok but I would get another chance later in the trip.
We headed to our final camp up in the Limpopo area to fill the rest of our quota. As the days start to run together from here I will only be able to give the highlights of my animals. We hunted for 2 days before I would get my 53" kudu at a great distance of 50yds. Next I was on the hunt for Impala and warthog which it turns out to be a great day as I got both of them within hours of each other. Now it was time to go after the big dog Eland. Let me tell you this was the hardest animal of the trip you would think something that BIG would be easy to find WRONG. Finally after 2 long days right at the end of light we found him, and wouldn't you know it I mis judged the distance and made a poor shot as it entered low on the left leg thru the bottom of the brisket and out the other leg without hitting a bone one. Not knowing at the time exactly where he was hit we left him over night due to darkness. Next morning at daybreak we were on his tracks, this is where our tracker Charles comes in. This guy tracked this animal for 5-6 miles with only tracks and very little blood. After about 3 miles I had my serious doubts if we would ever find my Eland. But thanks to the extremly hard work or Charles and Chris we finally caught up to him and was able to put hime down. I am not much of a writer and this story does not due the experiance justice but I am here to tell you we had the hunt of a lifetime. I have been home for about 48 hours and I am ready to go again.

Kevin, we killed David and Mark's Nyalas today... Here are pictures of the two bulls...





Sorry, they turned out to be slightly bigger than the ones you guys hunted. I tried to put David off from shooting but he wouldn't listen.

well Chris looks like another job well done. They may have gotten bigger ones but I bet they are only 1/2 the fun we were. Take care and keep up the good work

Kevin, When I get rested and all of our pics uploaded, I'll post our hunt report. It was quite the adventure hunting around Nyala Mountain. I took mine at an adjoining finger ridge running to the base of N. Mt. Mark shot his in the bottom of the steepest gorge in Natal. Wait till you here how we got it out! I have to admit I missed a giant bull on our third morning. Only 150 yards but uphill at a steep angle. Bullet hit a small limb and zoomed right over his back. This dude will definately make the top 5-10% of Roland Ward, and he's still there. I'm going back just to hunt for him and any one of the other 15 bulls we found on the second day. I'll give you a call soon.

Sorry, only got back home late last night with your trophies from Natal. Had to figure out a way to make those Nyala horns fit into my truck first... so I was delayed somewhat. We're leaving for a hunt in Botswana tomorrow and will be back on July 14th. I will make a point of sending you the pics then... + Sharon's shirt as promised. I can of course always bring the pics and shirt over when we visit the US in September... that's if you can wait that long...
