What's the most comfortable one to shoot? I think I like the Barret Bullpup set up -- are they all pretty much the same? (Barring the Anzio 10# one.) I'm leaning toward an Anzio Ironworks, or maybe just get an Armalite, to see if I like the caliber. Any suggestions/experiences would be appreciated.

Depends on your definition of "comfortable". Some of the rifles listed here, like the AR-50, have a low recoil, but a lot of overpressure is directed back at the shooter. Myself, I am much more affected by the shock wave than the recoil. On the light BR gun I'm going to have built around my Mcbros action, I'm going with the Vias brake over the more common clamshell brake, for just this reason.
The most comfortable .50 BMG that I currently have is this Bull Barrel Viper, low recoil, and a moderate brake blast, as felt by the shooter.




With the flat steel buttstock:

I have a Barrett model 99 Bullpup design. I actually find it pleasant to shoot, though as already noted, the concussion is considerable. The recoil really isn't much more than the kick of a 12 gauge shotgun.

best one I've found is the state arms big bertha. the wood stock seems to handle better and the ting weighs something like 42#. with a good brake on it.

We had a clambake and everyone had to "kill" a lobster (picture) to come in. Even the 100lb (45 KG) women had a blast. One women was nearly in tears before shooting and laughing afterward.

It's a Steyr HS 50 Blast to the sides is considerable. but the shooter is spared most of the damage. It's the most effective brake on the market. It's an all day shooter.

This shows the blast pattern and recoil pretty good.

I totally enjoy shooting my Big Bertha, recoil is easily manageable for anyone....its got a Vais brake.

followed by Steyr HS if we deal with bolt action, semi auto Barret is sweet.

Discovery Channel last night had a section on the 50BMG semi-auto developed by the Brits for the USA army .Seemed to be very reasonable recoil !!
