I am very familar with firearms, have been shooting for 40 yrs. But need to know a few things about the 50 bgm, I bought a barrett 95M.

1. How critical is barrel heat? Is it pretty much the same as same as smaller bore rifles. how many shots between coolings?

2. Can I truly expect 1 moa (barrett 95)( I shoot sub moa with smaller bores) with handloads using good components?

3. You guys in the DFW area, help out here, Where is the closest 1000 yrd range?

4. What is the best brass to use for reloading & a good accurate powder to use, what primers?

5. When will this silly grin on my face go away?

Thanks for your time
Regards Mike

1. same
2. probably, depends on ammo. in any case, you can rebarrel it if you need.

5. dunno. i still have my silly grin, and it's contagious. all the people i've let shoot my 95 are also still grinning.

Barrels get hot real fast. I can't say mine wanders because of the heat.
I have never owned an M95, but being a bolt action rifle of great quality I would definately expect it to shoot 1MOA or better with handloads.
For brass most would say that IMI is the best but lately it is hard to find. It seems that you can always find LC on e-bay for starters.
Most people use Hodgdon H50BMG and probably CCI#35 primers.
The silly grin on your face will not go away, but can be controlled by occasionally looking in you wallet for money. Big Grin
