I should have been more specific and used examples in my earlier post:

With cartridges that develop muzzle velocities ranging from 2200-2450 fps, I have put the 125 grain BT through both shoulders of 150-200 pound whitetail and exotics along with a few medium-sized (100-150 pound) wild hogs. App. 75% of the time, there were exits. Placed just behind the shoulder and through the thin ribcages of these animals, you could almost bet the farm that you'd get an exit.

Nosler BT launched 2400-2500 fps.
Will it hold together if one gets a shot in close 50 yds or so?

Louis,

They hold together just fine at 2900fps out of rifles. You aren't stretching the envelope at all.

It's probably the best choice of 308 hunting bullet out there for medium game out of a pistol.

My 308 15" Encore makes right at 2615fps with a 150gr BT and it held together just fine on a wild hog 2 weekends ago for me.
