Hi all, just got one off of AA. It's a 12" bull Encore custom shop barrel. It was a good deal, so couldn't pass up. Don't know much about the round, but the barrel has a .308 bore which is smaller than the standard, off the shelf 32 ammo, which has .312 bullets. Obviously, this is a reload only round for me, which is not a problem. Advice and tips are needed. Will standard dies work with .308 pistol bullets? Any help is greatly appreciated. Jeff

Jeff, I tried two different sets of RCBS dies with mine and niether one would size small enough for the 30cal bullet. First set of dies were carbide, and on the advice of another 32H&R shooter the second was a set of standard steel dies, he said those were what worked for him, I checked with Redding and was told theirs probably wouldnt size the case small enough either so its pretty much a custom die situation. Good Luck, Mark

just got off the phone with Pat at Lee precision dies. Said he would just swap the .312 bushung with a .308 bushing at no extra charge. Total cost for 3 die set delivered was 34.00. Can't beat that!!! Jeff

RCBS swapped out a set of dies for me. They apparently make a set just for .308 bullets. The sizer is a hair smaller and the expander too. I also have a lee set for .312 bullets. I have 2 guns, one with a .308 bore, the other with a .312. I have shot .312s in my .308 with very good results. 11.0 grains of H110 and a 115 grain LFN sized to .312 has been a good combo in both guns.
