Okay, everybody has a wish list, what caliber barrel is tops on your want/wish lists now?? I got my .308 Bellm and love it, but am finding I still have a desire/need for another barrel, just not sure what. I have to get off the number thirteen (as good of excuse as any, right?) Mike

Well! Right up to the other day it was a 20" 444 marlin from Van Horn. But now i'm thinking hard about that 9" 40-44. It would be a cool little round...Well little to me anyway [Smile]
I don't have anything in 6.5 or 7 either. Come to think of it, I don't have a 22LR.
Heck, Does it ever end??
I guess i'll have to start selling the ones I don't shoot that much to make room for more. Did I say that???? [Eek!]

I don't have a new one that I want at the moment but, I'm Having a little problem with my new 7mm TCU 21" Carbine barrel from the T/C custom shop. I just can't seem to get it to shoot well. So for me it is just a matter of getting that barrel to perform better. It might be that I just haven't come across the right combo yet. To get it to shoot better would make me happy.

I thought I was the only one who liked those old calibers, I have a set of dies and 100 rnds of 38-40 and by golly I think ol Ed still has a bbl listed on his site in that caliber.
Now if I could just get back to work....

Wes, The 40-44 is quite different then the 44-40.
It's a round developed by JD Jones and is a 44mag case necked down to accept a 40cal. bullet and will push a 170gr bullet at 22 or 2300fps out of a 14" barrel. I figure I can get at least 1900 or better out of a 9 incher.

Damn Rich, I hate to hear that. [Mad] I hope you find a load it will shoot. But if you can't get it to shoot then send it back to TC. I don't know if they would refund your money or not.
If it don't work out for you and they won't take it back, sell it on one of the auctions. I know you would be very happy with a Van Horn barrel and his prices are about the same as the so called TC custom shop.

I haven't given up on it yet. I still have a lot of things to try out. I guess that I have gotten spoiled expecting everything to shoot small groups. The way it is right now I'm sure that I could hit a deer with it. I just expect better. Worst case scenario is it gets rechambered in the future. If I go that way there are plenty of options. First things first, try different things the answer might just be there waiting for me to find it.

A new barrel, but not a new caliber. A GOOD chamber in 6 TCU, I would prefer Mike B to do it. Then if I would happen to wear the throat down in it I could rechamber to 6x47 or the 6mm Bellm. My factory 6 TCU is starting to throw me some fits, bought this one used and have no idea about it's past. I am hoping that if Mike is going to start "stocking" barrels he would chamber some in this caliber or the 6x47. The only thing that has stopped me from rechambering to the 6mm Bellm is the $$ and avalability of the 5.6x50R brass.

Well...
First, I've got a .223 26" heavy Encore barrel that fell out of my trunk at Mike's place. I THINK it will end up a .222 Rem Mag Improved, but have left the final decission up to The Heritic. Also left a 10" .22 that may come back as a .22 Super Jet, again - have left the final to the wizar.

I got the .444 18" Encore for the bear hunt, but found with Mike's borescope that it has no throat. I'm planning on doing some scientific testing - a before and after Mike puts a throat in it (or helps me do it).

For my WISH list - I want a 18-24" bull barrel .17 for my contender. I would like to get one unchambered and do one myself, but I'm thinking it will be a Mach IV.

I've also got my eye on a 14" .30 Herret that probably needs the .308 Bellm stamp on the side...

They're like chips - no one can name just one. :-)

Jules, I have a 10mm Auto S-14 barrel, but I think it is sold.... waiting for the check. It would be a fine candidate for a .40x.44. If the check does not come through, want it?

Trying to remember who traded it in... kentx, I think????? Barrel is pristine, with sights.

Did someone here a while ago say that Van Horn was getting reamers for wildcats based on the 5.6X50 case or the 225 Win case?

Well, since you are asking about dream barrels.....

I already have two of my dream barrels in the works that will be completed by the T/C Heretic soon:

A 14" 22Short Match chamber barrel, and a 14" 17 HRM, both being made by re-lining otherwise thrash-bore Super 14" barrels. Both of which will make very excellent Varminting barrels for around the farm and in the case of the 22Short, in some more populated areas where the game is primarily garden varmints and starlings/other destructive birds [Big Grin]

My wish list is very simple: A 20" .223rem Bull Contender barrel and a 24" .308 win Bull Encore barrel, both by Mike Bellm. Don't know how long I shall have to wait until these are a part of his regular production, but I'll be busy with all the other barrels that I have on hand, so the wait is worth it! See, my wishes are EASY [Big Grin]

Yes Headstamp. Van Horn told me a few weeks back when I called for information that he had ordered reamers for most calibers of 5.6x50R improved wildcats. He should be taking orders now for them. That was a few weeks ago and he told me to call back the next week.

Sorry Mike, I read down and saw you email may not be working. This is what I wrote.
I'll have to check with Jones first. I'm not sure if he will sell me the dies.
It's a damn shame I sold my 10mm barrel. It wasn't even fired.
I'll have to see if it's worth the cost after all the work. That would be your cost for the barrel + cut to 9" and crown + rechamber to 40x44 + matte finish.
It's not that I don't want you to do the work but if I can get a custom for less $$ then thats what i'll do. I know I can get one from Van Horn ready to shoot for $243.00. or less.
It will all depend on getting the dies from SSK.

Barrel, singular?

I don't have a top must have at the moment, as I ordered and am waiting on a 10" ss 357 max, that had been on the top of the list.

The also ran contender barrels, in no paticular order:
10" 22 K hornet
10" 221 fireball
10" 6.5 TCU
10" 30 Herret
14" 6.5X50R
14" 358 Bellm
18" 22 K hornet
18" 223
18" 357 max
18" 358 Bellm

My list is short.
10" to 14" good barrel in 357 Mag.
21 to 24" good barrel in either 6tcu or 6x47
24" in 223AI

My needs are simple. RIGHT

All these wussy calibers...

I'm flashing on the hand-lapped, 21.5" VVCG matte black octagon Mike Belm is currently chambering in .375/.338 Win Mag, along with his machined in brake. Should look cooler than hell and be distinctively loud.

Carbine barrels- .22 cal. But which? .22 LR, .22 hornet or .223. I'm leaning towards Hornet or LR.
