I just found this place and I must say...WOW!

I'm new to the Encore game, just got my pistol (270 Win.) a couple of weeks ago. Since I'm addicted to message boards, I set out to find a place to discuss Encores, Contenders, etc.

Found Greybeard Outdoors the other day, hated the format. Why anyone still uses BB software like that is beyond me. The navigation is just plain painful, especially for someone with a slow connection like me.

Did some additional searching and found this place.

Looks like I've found what I was looking for. [Smile]

So, in my best Simpsons voice...Hello everybody! [Smile]

Oh yeah, and is there any way to change the display time? I'm not that familiar with Dubai time... [Confused]

Welcome Grinder. In addition to my two Contenders, I have an Encore (15" 250 Savage and 13" 30 Bellm, had a 15" 260 Rem). The Encore will be my primary handgun for deer this year in Illinois. In fact, as soon as I finish my coffee this morning, I'll be off to the range.

I remember seeing you at GB. I responded to your question on a scope.

Yep, was looking for some info on pistola scopes. I looked at an older model Tasco 2X at my local shop, couldn't see the crosshairs at arms length. Either due to my eyes or the scope. I just decided to go with a red dot. A little cheaper than a scope (Yes, I'm cheap...).

As for my fellow Virginians, are you a member of the Virginia Citizens Defense League? If not, why? [Smile]

Check them out and join up! It's not just for NOVA any more.

Grinder

Glad you are here!

The reason they still use that format is because Matt, son of "GB The Great", wrote the lame, outdated, inefficient program!

Grinder,

Greetings! Good to see another fellow Virginian on board! We shall all have to get together one of these days and meet-up at a common spot to do some serious Woodchuck hunting [Big Grin]

About the Pond's BB format, Mark and others who were also there at the time can correct me if I am mistaken, and I will attempt to recollect the exact reasoning that went into the decision to use the BB style format:
It is true that "Big Fish's" son wrote that program for the "Big Fish," but it was not entirely by virtue of the fact that he wrote it that it is being use, but rather because "Big Fish" actually LIKES AND PREFERS than format over and against and better than all the others, I suspect largely because that is what the H.I.S. (Hunting Information Systems) OLD format was when we all started posting on these web-based discussion boards over there at the H.I.S. Handgun Hunting forum, and also because no one was really writing and using BB style programs anymore at the time that the "Pond" needed the program.

About the only places that I actually visit now that also still use that style format, are the "Go Go Varmint Go Message Board," the "Campfire" and the "Sixgunner" the latter both of which are primarily Big Bore revolver discussion boards.

Well, just a bit of historical internet discussion board trivia [Razz]

I think that he is just "TOO CHEAP" to spring for a non fossilized BB format...... NOW, if you wanted to give it to him to "Test", i sure he would try it and the report on it, LOL!

Just my humble opinion, of course [Wink] [Razz]

That's what it's all about. The "test" freebies are worth a heck of a lot more than the banner ads. Beats using your taxed income to go out and buy these toys to play with. But we covered that a long time ago.
