I'm going to ask a dumb question here...Why do we need the G-2 contender and the Encore? Is there any major difference between the two? Just wondering.

Thanks...8point

"MONEY"

We don't need both.
Now before you all get Worked up and ready to slit my throats.............
TC see's more money to be made Like Ford and Chevy.
You don't NEED a 1/2 truck do you?
If all they built was a 1Ton you would buy
the 1 Ton as it will do every thing the 1/2 ton will do and more....Rougher riding? Yes
If all TC had was an Encore most would buy them any way.
By giving us both options you apeal to a Larger market share Hence........MORE money to be made.
More product sold and they get to buy a BIGGER house........SEE All about making Money and Taking yours!
More Toys for us!
Contender for the smallet lower pressure rounds. Lighter to carry in the feild.
Encore heavier but able to handle Higher pressure rounds. Yet the Encore can and will do everything the Contender does...Like the ONE TON TRUCK!

I know of one thing the encore can't do. And that's fit around a contender barrel [Big Grin]

wait a minute!!!!!........8 point you do know the Contender has pressure limitations right? If not, take a look at the chamberings offered for the Encore vs. the Contender: the Encore was designed to handle your higher pressure calibers. I don't want to stop a good joke, but you have to remember that not just seasoned shooters read these posts!
A misunderstanding is starting around the G2 - it may look like a scaled down Encore frame, but it is no stronger than the original Contender!

I don't have an Encore. Won't get one. If that's all there was (and it isn't), I'd just get a Ruger No. 1 and to heck with break open single shots and interchangeable barrels. I don't think I'm going to get a G2 either. That stock (I use mine mostly as a carbine) is atrocious.

Come on now KYODE. You know the real reason that you are getting all of those frames is cause now you can not afford a screw driver to switch barrels anymore (after getting all of those barrels and frames).

I know what you mean Dave. Once a guy gets everything set up you really hate to switch to a different barrel. As for me, well if the G-2 ever gets to this part of South Dakota, I may just have to have one. WHY, well I guess just because.

I just recently got my encore frame & so far I'm very happy with it. I also have a contender frame which I like very much as well. My plan is to have a G2 frame once they come out so I can have one frame for pistol & one for a carbine.

I bought the encore while I got frustrated waiting for the G2. I haven't had it long but I have already got to like it as much as the contender.

One other thing Why do I need it ? I don't but that doesn't change the fact that I want it that way.

Thanks for pointing out the differences guys. I did not know that the G-2 was a smaller frame. Nothing wrong with that.

I have three Encore frames. I have had one of them since August of last year. I bought the other two right before Christmas. I went the custom route on the first frame. I finally got the custom 22-250 rifle barrel back in January to find that the barrel and forend were not free-floated like it was supposed to be and I got a gun that shot three inch groups, vertically strung. Sooooo it went back to the stock/barrel maker and I still don't have a barrel to shoot.

I've got another rifle barrel on order from Bullberry (who was not the maker of the first barrel by the way). It should be ready by mid April. I'm waiting on the other two barrels to arrive before I build my custom handgun. I think I will go the 7mm BR route.

Since I have had an Encore since August of last year and two more since December and still have nothing to shoot with them except my blackpowder barrel, do any of you guys feel sorry enough for me to let my borrow one of your barrels until mine get here?

I didn't think so.... [Big Grin] 8point

Sorry 8-Point, No Encore Barrels here for you to borrow, all I have is Contenders (at least so far). You might want to start a new thread entitled "Can someone please borrow me an Encore Barrel so I can shoot these frames", or something to that effect.
