I am buying another barrel for my encore and want to know if these barrels and scopes will stay on target when i change from one to the other.thanks for any input.

I have noticed that my contender barrels will vary a little bit, but not enough to be of a concern. If I were using it for a competion I might keep a barrel to a frame to avoid this. For my uses it is not a problem.

It depends on what type base/ring setup you use. I've used the Weaver base with Burris Signature Zee rings for a while now and I'm very satisfied with them. I'll give you an example. Last week I took a 4x16 Signature scope off a 14" 22Mag Contender barrel and put it on a 24" 25-06 Encore barrel. First shot was 1" off dead center. I haven't found a load that is satisfactory for the 06, but the scope is right on. BTW- I used Luepold QR Rings for a while and they were nearly as good, they just weren't as easy to adjust as the Burris rings.

Could you define "a little bit"? I had the same question about how the point of impact varies when you switch from barrel to barrel.

I can think of a time or maybe two where I had the barrel dead on at 100 yards. Switched barrels & then swithed back. I'd say it's point of impact didn't move more than 1/2" higher & still on as far as windage. It may have been something that I did to effect it as well. I'm really not sure totally why it happened. I can accept that for hunting. I generally don't switch barrels much after I start hunting anyway. I feel even with that I could accurately take game given that change. I typically don't shoot over 100 yards either.

This is the first year that I have had more than 1 barrel for my Contender. After changing barrels [2 times ]I noticed my point of aim had been raised up about 6" at 50 yards. I assumed I had tightened the forearm screw to a different torque and caused the shift in point of aim. After hunting season is over I plan on looking into it more. Lone Hunter

Don't know about a torque screwdriver but you may want to check your local pawn shop first. The other day saw a Protool torque wrench small 1/4" drive for $60. Heading over there tomorrow to pick it up if they still have it. Have also figured that using one when swaping the buttstock and grip would keep things the same. As for the barrel my barrels are VV and have the hanger bar. Have never had any shift in groups when only swaping barrels. One other thing I did was to mark one side of the hinge pin so it was always on the same side. Probably not needed but it helps keep things consistent. Off topic but I would appreciate it someone could tell me the O.D. at the muzzel for the encore rifle ML in .50 or .45. Thanks and have a Merry Christmas.
