Hi Wade, can you give me a little more detail. I would like to add this to our database at Specialty Pistols.

What i need is
- brass brand
- primers

- OAL

Thanks,

Wade,
That is smoking right along! Maybe I will have my Patriot chroned during the clinic with my 180 grain SGK with 66.0 H-4350.
How many firings on that brass before you switched?
This just for free, but when I had my titanium firing pin put in to give myself a shorter lock-time we had to bush around the firing pin so it wouldn't create problems. I don't know how sloppy (firing pin hole in comparision to the firing pin itself) is too sloppy, but I can ask if needed.
My 150 grain load with Varget is 64 grains (if I remember right), and I thought that was a lot of powder in the Patriot. 104 grains--That is probably double the volume of a 308 Win. case.
Are you planning to use the 180 grain bullet for most of your hunting? Other? Accubond?

Mike I will get the info posted as soon as I get it wrote down.

Ernie I was wondering about my firing pin spring if it could be getting weak.I did take a fine sandpaper and smooth my tip of the pin down.Thought there was a burr on the tip from the primers. But that might have been the cause since I did not get to reproduce the effect.
As for bullets just what I fine to be accurate for what I am hunting. But since most shots here are between 10-75yds I might stick with the 458X2A XP.Unless I am going to sit up in a big opening.Which I am planing on doing a few times this year.I think I will try Accubond and the Barnes Triple X.

Mike I have some info for you.Remington cases,CCI 250 MAG primers, barrel length is 16",as for as the OAL goes it was at 3.650" that was for my Remington PSS700 in 300 RUM to fit in the mag.All bullets have a different OAL but I use a Stoney Point(can't think of what it is called that measures the bullets where it first hit the lands. And that is at 4.160")

By the way went to the club page and it is nice.Good job

Wade,
Chronoed my Patriot at the clinic this week. The 180 SGK is running at 2725 FPS. This is with 66.0 grains of H-4350.

Erne;

I did some testing with the 190gr Hornady. They did right 2708fps.Also used some 220gr Serria Matchkings and the first load out they did 2658fps. Showing some good signs as far velocity and accuracy goes.Have you shot either one of these in your Patriot?

Sounds like your XP is doig great how was the clinic.Did it do good at the clinic??

My 220 Serrias are going faster than the 220gr Hornadys in my 375/284 XP and my 375/06JDJ both from SSK so Hoping I can talk fiftydeiver into make my XP a 375 RUM.Plus the Serrias don't drop out like them flat points do.

With your XP Patriot and T/C NUT Encore in 300 Win Mag and my XP in the 300 RUM looks like we uped the antey on pistol velocitys.I am still hoping to get close to 3000fps with the 180gr Nolser BT.I am at 2900fps now but real close to max.And the 190gr at 2850fps and the 220gr at 2750 to 2800fps.

Wade,
My intention five years ago, really had nothing to do with upping the ante, but rather getting a better, light-weight elk specialty handgun. It is a 15 3/4 sporter weight barrel. Currently, it has SSK's T'SOB mount and three rings. Within the next month or so I will put a pair of Burris's Zee Rings (with inserts) so I can put some minutes into the mount, to be better suited at long range. The accuracy at 500 meters to 660 yards was gratifying for me, even though I was using the stadia's of the Ballistic Plex to hit the targets. Rams @ 500 meters was to easy. in fact after getting sighted in at 550 meters my hunting buddy Steve challenged me (in gusty wind conditions to not only hit, but hit in such a way that I knocked down four rams in a row with four shots under three minutes. I was using a tri-pod front rest with a short rabbit ears bag upside down for the rear bag. I hold the gun with one hand (left) and manipulate the rear bag with my right. It never missed a lick. When I went out to 660 yards there is a large diamond shaped steel target. As I ran down the mini-plexes to get at zero all three shots lined windage wise with the last centering the white bullseye (it is hard to explain that one, but a picture is worth a thousand words). I split the bullet twice with it with relative ease. Also split bullet with my 260 MOA, 284 Win. XP-100, and Marc Sheehan's 20 inch 30 Alaskan Contender.
I think we need to set up another angle iron target at 800 yards for more of a challenge.
If I had the ring set-up I mentioned earlier I went have shot @ 800 & 1000, but having to aim at rock way above the target is difficult.
Every time I shot it I was pleased. It was a great confidence builder all in all. Of course it really hammered the pigs @ 300. That is about it.
I have never shot any bullet yet in the 180 class or above with the exception of the SGK. The clinic itself was really enjoyable. I had a lot more personal shooting time than I expected. The only disappointment was that we didn't have many new students. Time will tell if Don's health will continue to the point to where he will be able to do more clinics in the future. Last year at Alliance he said it would probably be his last, yet there he was this past week.
