How would the ETHP rate the 500 S&W revolver? Is it a Pifle or a Ristol because of its weight and length?
Is it even rated yet by the Great Intellects?
It does have a cylinder and is 5 shot. Does that make it a revolver?

It's one big ugly cannon! [Big Grin] It looks like it needs wheels and a mule team to haul it around. I think I'll stay with my Encore thank you. [Big Grin]

Guess the gun would be way to heavy for "Dirty Harry' to use in a new movie. Clint's getting up there.
Sure would change the line "Feel lucky punk was it five or six "
S&W is having a few problems with the beast.
Is bigger better ?????????

I understand that the next "Dirty Harry" movie will feature the .500, with Clint in a wheelchair and the gun mounted on a turret instead of a shoulder holster.

MePlat,
1) head spacing because of different company's making the brass .
2) factory going to make own ammo using large rifle primers . Current brass suppliers uses large pistol primers .
3) There is a mechnical problem but I can't remember where I saw it. Will keep looking.

Simply they are just first production bugs that need to be ironed out.

Some of the bolt-stop springs aren't strong enough to hold the cylinder with heavy 440 grain loads (causing the cylinder to rotate after being fired). The factory will fix the problem free of charge however (my .500 has never had this happen, even after 250+ rounds of 440s)
