I wish someone would buy the darn thing. [Big Grin] I looked at it 4 times now and it's calling my name. I really don't need another big thumper, but that thing is really set up nice and would kill just about any game on earth out to 150yds or so. I can't take this. [Frown]

I was going to, but I figured I would call and Mike would say that Jules had already bought it. [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Razz] [Razz]

Jeff,
Mike offered it to me a couple months ago and I didn't get it. But now that it's finished and ready to ship makes it really tempting...Know what I mean??? [Wink]

I can't stop looking at it either! It looks really good. My wife keeps telling me it's not going to change caliber by me staring at it. If I didn't have a 45 Caliber barrel I would jump on this deal! [Big Grin]

At the time I talked to him about the 45-70 he also had a 15" 357max if I remember correctly. He may have already sold it or never got it finished.

Sorry guys, if it's the .357 Max. barrel I think it is. It's sitting in my safe with a 2x6 Redfield on it. It's all ready for me to take it out to the range and sight it in for deer season. Mike shipped it out to me a few weeks ago.

If it weren't for that 14" .444 Marlin barrel I got from Mike about a year ago. I would be looking at that 45/70 barrel too !!!!

I know what you mean Jules about hard to pass them up. I have to watch my step though. With all my long guns, pistols, knives and contender barrels. My safe is close to being full and it's the franklin 45 from Liberty. I mentioned to my wife that I might start looking for a second gun safe. Her response was frightening. She said why don't you look at selling some of them. [Eek!] [Eek!] It still sends chills down my back to think about that.

Don't get me wrong. I do sell guns from time to time. It is only to finance other guns though.

Cold chills I tell you !!!!

I know what you mean. That is scarey.
I have one safe for rifles and shotguns, and one for handguns and Contenders. I really need a 3rd. but I don't have the room for another. I quit tellin my wife what I pay for stuff long ago.
And besides that...she don't like guns....She's not an anti gun person mind you, she just don't like um.
I really don't mind making my own sandwich at the range. [Big Grin]

It's easy to buy new guns. Once they are in the gun safe who's to know how long they have been there. [Big Grin] [Big Grin] A new safe on the other hand is a different thing. it's kind of hard to hide that. Don't worry though, I'm working on it. I'll have to show my wife your post about getting a 3rd safe. Maybe me getting a second one won't seem to bad to her after all.

Cas, living in it just may have to be an option. [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

(Fisher..... shoot that Max! Don't just store it!)

Just to make matters worse, I found some more of the Fajen BigShot grips today and put them on the store. I don't think I have any S-14 type forends with the straight channel and shorter forend screw hole spacing, but the carbine forends can be modified. Notice that I do have matching color wood, but it is not for the untapered .45/70 unless you modify it.

You might check out www.boydboys.com and get an S-14 type forend from them in the brown or coffee colored laminate if you want to shoot this barrel two fisted.

That was what I originally had in mind for it when from season to season when I kept threatening to finish the .45/70 for myself and take into the dirty rotten holes up at timberline where the big bulls hide. For crawling around trying to sneak through down timber, this is the way to go, I think. It just has big bull elk written all over it.

Someone give it a home. It will treat you well.

I got a few other items up this evening also.

Mike

Jules, I like your new sig line..... 'ole Coon Bone. Now ya gotta dress the part though.... like the folks deep in the woods........ and have a half mix of a half dozen or more Redbones, Walkers, and Blueticks in the back yard howling all day and night. Never know when that Coon Bone might fail, and you'd have to go out and git uh nother ya know.

Sorry about the BigShot Grips..... all I have left is 3 left hand..... keeping one. I sold what I thought was my last one last year and was glad to unearth these three. The one I sold was one a local fellow reworked to right hand for me, which was beautifully done btw. I should have kept it.

Look at the pic on the store. All you have to do is rasp off the thumbrest on the right side and contour the right side to fit your hand comfortably. Sand it smooth, give it a few shots of Min-Wax Spar Urethane, and you are off shooting it in a few days.

I don't have time for many wood projects myself, and it took quite awhile to get mine done, so I'm not offering to supply one converted to right hand.

Maybe there is someone onboard here interested in taking it on.

There is plenty of wood to work with. If you did not know that my former one started life port side, you'd never know it to look at it. I think I sold it at Tulsa last December. There is a chance that the buyer is lurking here and can vouch for it.

I'll pass on the wood project. It's no biggie. I have plenty of other grips and i'm not that good at off hand shootin anyway.
At the hunt club we have only two blueticks but we have about 20 walkers and a total of about 40 dogs. But these are for runnin deer. [Wink]
