What with being one of the 1/2 dozen Match Dir.'s at Tri- City Gun Club and being responsible for cordinating the range mowings plus being involved in other club functions I may....(??) have just enough stroke with the club to offer a alternative on the location and get the range all to ourselves for the day. Mark's concern over the number of guests allowed per member per day at a given club is valid, TCGC has a daily limit also but right off the top of my head I can't recall what it is. I could approach TCGC about scheduling a 1st Annual Speciality Pistol Shoot but if approved we'd have to do a couple things. #1. All of the shooting sports match dir.'s, like IPSC, sporting clays, military semi auto and revolver pistol matches, millitary bolt rifle matches and my IHMSA matches etc pay a fee to TCGC for using the range so I'd have to charge a $10.00 range / entry fee per person in order to reserve the range.....funds collected would naturally go to TCGC. The fee would be "per shooter" not per family or per car load and in order to reserve / tie up the range for the day I'd like to have a minimum of ten shooters or be able to collect enough from those that do show to meet $100.00. #2. I'd have to make the range available to all TCGC club members but when writing up the match / get together in the club news letter I'd make certain it was very plain up front that the shoot was for scoped or iron sighted handguns only that were either rotary breech, bolt action, falling block or break action.....no revolvers or semi autos. TCGC is located 35 minutes south on I-35 from the I-40 and I-35 junction in Okla. City. The range goes out to 200 yds., it has a slightly raised fully tin covered firing line, several moveable elevated target stands, aprox twenty large solid concrete mounted shooting benches, stationary steel gongs at 100, 150 and 200 yds., mens and womens maintained outhouses and if you get hungry the range is only about a mile east from a Love's and Burger King. There is well water on site but the water is used mainly for construction, cooling off in the summer and for mixing weed killer etc.....it is not potable. As far as the actual day goes I also would rather have it on a Saturday. For the time of year I'd like to see it sometime after mid May when the temps are warmer and when the shooting can be done in shirt sleeves or a light jacket as opposed to insulated coveralls, stocking caps, gloves and parkas. Time wise I could be there at first light to open the gate and I'd like to end the day by 3:00 or so. It makes no difference to me where the location for the shoot is, it can either be here or in the Tulsa area and to be completely honest I'm not at all 100% positive (till I make a couple calls) that I can even swing getting us TCGC for the day but I do feel it may be possible. The only drawback (to some) to holding the shoot at TCGC is that the range is just 200 yds. whereas Tulsa apparently has a 500 or 600 yd. facility. I'm more than willing to contact the board of TCGC but before doing so I'll need a "Firm" comitment for a minimum of at least ten shooters and I'd like to contact the club as soon as I can before all the good Saturdays are scheduled for 2005.....range scheduling for 2005 is already taking place. Again, I have no preference as to the actual location for the shoot / get together but am only trying to offer a possible alternative if need be. Ike | |||
