Absolutely! I've got a 14" Contender barrel and it will shoot between a half and three-quarter inch groups at 100M. Makes a fine deer gun.

A used barrel will cost you from $125 to $175 and a frame would be $225 to $275. Then there is the scope.

I have a 30-30 barrel for my Contender. It is surprisingly accurate.

Just bought a new frame ....carbine but they are the same frame.....with full butt stock and fore end was $280. Then add in a barrel...like was mentioned somewhere between $125 on up. So you should be able to get a new frame...just the frame for $220 - used as low as $175.

I was looking at the EABCO (http://www.eabco.com ) single-shot pistols in 30-30.

It's a little more expensive than a T/C, but I like the design of the falling-block more than a break-action.

The only T/C I had was in .223 and I didn't like the trigger on it, and wasn't overly fond of the hammer-safety either.
