They are Hornady's and there was such a run on them last week after they emailed the sale flyer that their web page virtually locked up and you couldnt get through on the phone...owner said he thought they were going to sell 2 million bullets in just a few days time.

They still had some left as I looked at the site at lunch today! I would buy more but just can not afford to save much more money. [Cool]
Anyone know when they will be shipped?
I can't wait to start putting them away and planning loads in the Max for all of those 180 One shot pistol bullets!

Are you guys absolutely certain these are Hornady bullets? A couple of years back, there was a similar sale at MidSouth, and the bullets showed the same weights/configurations as Hornady. But a little digging back then indicated these were made by an independent and are basically copy-cats. This is not to say they won't work well, but perhaps a bit of checking is in order before stocking up too much...

Is this the OEM overrun/blem bullet sale on their web site? Noted their list and also thought the profiles looked Hornady-like. Question: where in the world did that 100 grain .224 bullet come from that is on their sale list??? Never heard of such an OEM bullet. Anyone have any information or background on this thing? Probably take half the case capacity just to seat that sucker.

Bobby, I wouldnt bet my check on it but after looking at the designs and reading "...major manufacturer..." I thought they had to be Hornadys. I wouldnt think that they could be from some lesser know shop/copy cats but then again I'm not in advertising either.

Dave-
A couple of years back, this was the situation. It may be different now, but back then, the bullets, with striking similarities to Hornady products, were not.

Caveat emptor...

Probably silly questions, but:

How would you know the bullets weren't made by Hornady?

and

What difference does it make as long as they are good bullets??

I bought some of the 33 grain V-Max bullets that were available a few years ago and have had nothing but great luck with them!!! I bought 1600 of various flavors this time and expect them to be just as good! Upon inspection (they arrived yesterday), the only problem I see is I didn't buy nearly enough!!! I wish I had bought several thousand 270 grain 375 cal. SP bullets at $4.45/100 instead of the 500 I got!!!

I know because one of the employees told me so...

There was a sale a few years back, and the prices intrigued me. I thought they had to be Hornady, but I decided to check. Lo & behold, they were not.

But like I said, perhaps this isn't the case this time around. ANd if they work, that's great.

But if it doesn't, well...I did speak up...

Bobby

Did the person you spoke with last time tell you who made the bullets???

When you'all start getting some of the sale bullets loaded up and tested, please let us know how they shoot. I bought some of the 30 cal 150's for my Bellm but that is just more for trying to find something that won't shoot in it than anything else. I guess I ordered a few .41's also just because they seemed to good to pass up. For the most part though I shyed away from the sale. A month or so ago I ordered some of the OEM 300 gr. for my 14" 45-70 and they seem to throw a flyer in about every group. I can shoot Rem. bulk 300's in fantastic little groups then switch back to the OEM's at the same setting and one out of the five will almost always be out 1 to 1 1/2". I am varying the loads with the same results. They are the same bullet that they have listed on the sale, now they are just a buck cheaper. I probably missed the boat but no more than I get to shoot and what I have invested in the rest of the components and time, I figured I could pay a few cents more per bullet for first runs. A couple thousand sale bullets that shoot good are not near enough, but a hundred that won't shoot are way too many. I ordered a regular order plus the few sale items a week ago and it still has not shown up on my orders account page on the their website. Anyone else that far behind? I know it will undoubtably take some time for them to catch up. There is not much left but there are a few types I might order if everyone else is having good luck. Thanks, Mike

GonHuntin-
Yes they did, but it wasn't a name that I was familiar with -- and I don't remember it anymore. Like I said, it's been a couple of years. But what is crystal clear is that those bullets were not Hornady.
