This G2 is beginning to be like some of the "vaporware" being touted by some of the computer software folks in the not too distant past.
Always just on the verge of ready for release!

I would buy one in a New York Minute!!......But it will have to be in a Rifle........Not Allowed to Purchase a TC NEW of any kind in a Handgun Configuration.... NOT allowed here in Kalifornia
I was even told that my 20" 7-30 was not TECHNICALLY legal to be on my Handgun frame as it could be considered a Short Rifle even though it was on a Handgun frame....This was from an Officer that was at the range were I locally shoot
Things are SO MUCH FUN HERE

I plan to purchase a G2 and if possible, do the Bellm Encore trigger job to it. It has the *potential* of being an even better trigger than the original Contender, if it is as easy to fix as the Encore.

Not as fun or convenient to adjust as the original, but possibly lighter in the long run, though none of us will know until it is available [Smile]

At any rate, I'm at least going to give it a try.

Other then just to have one. I'd like to hear 3 good reasons why the change from the flat side.

The G-2 hammer functions like the Encore, so I think safety was the driving force for the change.

If you depress the trigger on the current Contender, the hammer can be pulled back and if released, will drop on the firing pin. With a cartridge in the chamber, this would fire the round. With the Encore this can't happen.

This is correct, but I don't think they had to change the outside of the frame. Just the trigger assembly. I like the looks of the flatside frames.

I "LIKE" the looks of the new G-2 It is also supposedly a Stronger frame.......Coupled with a lighter weight than the Encore.....and If the trigger is the same as the Encore then a Great Triiger can be had.
I have heard so much about the WONDERFUL contender triggers??? NOT mine from the factory.
They were heavy as NEW on all 4 I purchased(NEW)
All now have trigger jobs of 1.5 - 2 lbs
And really Jules... why do we need a REASON to buy another gun??? other than its in our BLOOD????
You eman when everyone around has a new G-2 you wont get one just to say you got one??? lol [Razz]

I'm waiting to pick up one of the G-2's, I want a second frame. I think that it may be ok with the changes that they are making. If not there's always gunbroker.

I hear with any contender, if you cock the hammer, but the barrel to you head and pull the trigger, you'll shoot yourself.. I don't do that either. [Smile]

Yea Fireball, I'll most likely get one if I ever see one for sale. [Big Grin] I'll have to see what the grip feels like in my hand. If it's like the Encore it's too big for me. But a carbine would be OK. I usually give myself 3 reasons to buy another gun. Heck, If I was to buy every gun I wanted, I'd be out of $$$ real quick. Even before I got past S&W custom shop guns. I have been in contact with TC for the past three months trying to confirm the release date. They still say "sometime this fall". To me, that means October, at the latest, or they will miss the fall gun sales season. I really want to buy one, and will be more than disapointed if they don't get the thing out within their current delivery estimates. I plan to buy it with a .44 Magnum barrel. Anybody have recommendations for 180-240 jacketed projectiles. Thanks in advance.

Has TC said when a SS frame will hit the market? And will they be offering only complete guns from the start or will frame only be available.

I haven't asked about SS vs. Blue. Regarding complete guns as opposed to frames only, the website seems to make it clear that the existing barrels will fit the new model, so I would assume, wrongly perhaps, that they will offer frames without barrels. It seems to be up to the retailers as to how they configer the offerings. I will send another message and ask these questions directly. Like you, I would like to have mine in stainless.
