Starting back "again" on 375 JDJ loads (Thanks--Mike Bellm for ALL the info on why my TC quit going "bang" -it does now! )
Has anyone shot any of the Nosler 260 gr AccuBonds in 375 JDJ? Accuracy? Terminal performance?

I'm shooting 225 gr Hornady spires/ H4895 currently at 2120 fps. Any thoughts on terminal performance vs. 220 flat points for whitetails?

Thanks,
Charles

Glad you fixed your problem. I haven't shot the 260 Accubonds yet. Just got a hundred of them to try. I have been shooting the 225 Hornady Flat Points and they will do a number on deer but I think the 220grn Spire point might be better on expansion for deer.
I tried some Hornady 270grn Spire Points and they shot great. I got 1.5" at 100 yds with first load using IMR4895.
I shot some wet phone books with the 270's and 4 phone books didn't stop the bullet. Found it in the sand mostly intact. I think the Accubonds will be the ticket for elk and some nasty hogs I have tearing up my lease roads and pastures. Can't wait to try them. I might even try the 260 Accubonds on a doe in two weeks during a three day antlerless hunt.

Charles, I haven't tried the accubonds in my 375 JDJ-YET, but I used them on African plains game out of my 308 Striker. They performed just as they should have-1 shot kills on everything, including a couple at extended (for me) handgun ranges.

I have shot the 260 NBTs, but not the accubonds yet. Expect them to be harder than the 270 Hornadys and max out with lighter loads. I would use about 51 grs of Varget with the accubonds as a max, although I believe that the max might be a grain or so higher. If you have a chrono, I would go up until I got about 2050 to 2100 fps out of a 14" barrel and call it good.
If you want true data, JD Jones has data for the Varget and the 260 Partition which should be the same. Varget is about the optimum powder for the .375 JDJ and bullets in the 260-300 gr. category.

The foregoing is based upon my SSK barrel. I would probably advise you to keep the loads lighter in the TC barrels because they will be rougher and have larger lands that will generate higher pressures with equivalent loads. I am assuming you know proper reloading techniques, and will start low and work your way up.

Thanks for the replies, All. No luck on popping a whitetail the past couple of days. There's always next week!
Rob, I do have the SSK barrel. Very happy it's tendency to not foul and the accuracy. I haven't had the chance to chrony any of my 260 Accubond loads yet-will do in January. I'm with ya on "working up" the loads-been reloading for 3+ decades. Good advice is never wrong.
Take care and Merry Christmas,
Charles

Mike (McClura)--let me know how the 260 Accubonds do on the hogs-I'm also looking at them for elk next time I get the chance to go back home.
Thanks,
Charles

Finally got to the range last weekend.

The Nosler 260 Accubonds shot very well, grouping just under an inch for 2 five shot groups at 75 yds. "Dang! This thing is accurate!" 46.0 grains of H4895 gave an AV of 1824 fps through the chrony, SD was 11. Will up the charge and leave the OAL the same. Might try some Varget after I exhaust the H4895.

Accuracy with the Hornady 225 spires was not that great-will seat them farther out next time and up the charge slightly. 49 grains of H4895 gave an AV of 1915, SD was 37.

Looking forward to my next days off....

The only bullet I have used so far in my 375 is the Speer 235gr.

Using H322 and CCI 350Mag primers, I have worked up a load that chronographs out at 2200fps.

I dont have it any more but my best load was Sierra 200gr over 54.5 gr AA 2520. But here in south Ga the white tails are small ! Only recovered one bullet and it was from a head on shot from about 100 yards, I have a few left over if you would like to try them ?

Short44,
Thanks for the info. I replied to your thread on the reloading forum(above...) just before checking this one. Ya answered my question here.
The 200 Sierras sound interesting. I'm still working loads up for my 225 Hornady's. Need to finish the springtime honeydoos and get back to shooting!

Yeah any bullet thats for the 375 Win lever gun is a great white tail bullet for the JDJ, to light and thin for BIG game but just right for white tail.
