I have both in a Competitor.The max will do 2000 fps all day long with 180 hp's the 35 Whelen will do 2600 with 200 gr sp's both have their place.

I have a Competitor with a 14" 357 Max barrel. I am currently waiting on an ejector (the previous owner didn't have one for that barrel) and am considering rechambering to 35 Whelen. I know the Whelen will give higher velocities, does anyone have any experience with either caliber in this length barrel?
