First,there isn't anything "casual" about the 454. Mine has eaten 2 scopes. A Swift and a World Class Tasco have both died on my Ruger SRH. I now have a pair of 454's and both wear 4x Leupold scopes and the leupolds have held up great.
My top performing load is a Lyman 325gr GC driven by 31 grs of H 110. Knarly load and it will do everything I ask of it,I have a 380gr Mountain Mold design that I intend to use for Elk. 45nut
