I broke down and bought a Ransom Rest. We have been having a week of bad weather like everyone else so I caught up on "honey-do's", Tody wasen't too bad so I set it up. Keep in mind this is not a first class set-up. In the process of installing it solid. Used my 22 match 14" barrel. Shot Remington "walmart specials", ely and wolf brands. Shot 5 of each. Disapointing. Large groups, 2", and lots of flyers. I got a brain storm and installed Mike's oversize hing pin. Remington's = 1 1/2", Ely = 1" and wolf = 3/4". No flyers. All groups were shot at 50 yards.

Where do you purchase the rest?
I like the idea of not envolving the forearm in your bench shooting.

And after looking at your website........Where are you shooting the marmots? I shoot then in the kennnedy meadows area near my place in Kernville
Are you getting them around the area of Newberry springs?? I have been coyote huntin around their but never knoticed any chucks but then I have not looked for them either.

Rich,
Thanks for posting the picture of that set up. Of course I have a bunch of questions about it now. Will discuss with you at another time.

Take care,

I bought the rest from Brownels. That is not my web site. It is matt's. I just use it for posting pictures. No varmits around here anymore. Jackrabbits and coyotes have moved on. Email me and we can maybe get together.

deadeye,

Fascinating setup! Keep us posted as to the results you are able to attain with this. At the least, I find the beneficial effects of the Bellm hinge pin in your shooting to be quite note-worthy, especially given some of the ignorant and uninformed discussion that the pins have recieved on other discussion forums of late.
