I doubt you'd get much expansion with this one, and you wouldn't even benefit from a good wound channel as the pointed bullet doesn't offer a wide, flat meplat needed for such in a non-expanding bullet. And, depending on what you may use it in, the length/seating depth may be an issue.

Thanks Bobby. I am curious if anyone has tried them and if it worked out. This would mainly be a paper punching/woodchuck load.

I agree with Robert as to the velocity/expansion window in the 357 Mag. They may work out of a 10" bbl. at very close range but I doubt it.

Hornady told me they are primarily for a start velocity close to 2000 FPS. At this, you are looking at good performance out to say 130 yds. Higher start velocities increase that range of course.

I dropped a nice spike buck a number of years back with one out of a 35 Rem 12" Hunter bbl. at 2000 FPS MV. Hit was at about 35 yds at ground level through some heavy thickets. Never made it up into my treestand. Pulled it high of course shooting offhand where the bullet just made it under the spine but the trauma of the expansion dropped the deer like a rock. By the time I got there, he was expired.

I'd try some of the light weight pistol bullets for varminting some of which can be quite accurate and surprisingly so. Almost a shame to punch paper with those 180 SSSP's.
