OK, so it's Christmas and I can wish... I know this brass hasn't been made in a while, but I like it much better than the standard .222 Rem Mag. stuff that's currently being produced. (I'm using it i a 6x47AI). So if anyone has some unfired (perhaps even once-fired) brass they'd like to sell, please contact me with details at btomek@gvec.net and we'll see if a deal can be made. Thanks!

Bobby, you might try over at ExtremeAccuracy.com as well. BTW, the only factory brass I have ever seen was nickle. Jeff

Thanks, Jeff. Yes, the only brass I've seen was nickle as well. And while I don't care for nickle in wildcats which require fireforming, there's enough of a quality difference to make this one worthwhile. I'll give it a whirl...

Thanks, everyone.... I just received an e-mail from a fellow who had 120 pieces of unfired brass just gathering dust, and that, combined with what I have, will hold me for a while. Tommy: If I get any info on more brass, I will certainly forward you the info.

Bobby it would be appreciated. The only reason I don't have a 6X47 contender barrel is the quality of 222 mag brass.

I have a 6X47 Imp. and I have used both the Federal brass and the .222 rem mag. brass. I have not seen any problems with the .222 mag brass. So what are these brass problems being cited? The Federal brass is nickel plated. Nickel brass is usually inferior to regular brass, all things being equal, IMO.

nothing was said about problems just quality??

There are no "problems" per se with the .222 Rem Mag brass, but the consistency of the 6x47, which was touted as match brass by Federal, is simply better. And it offsets the minor disadvantage of nickel brass in a wildcat. Tommy-I did purchase the other lot for the same price as I got the first. I'll e-mail you with details if you would like some. Bobby, how does the 6x47AI fit in with the 6x223, 6TCU and the 6x47AI? Or should I ask does it make the spread similar from the 6TCU-6x47AI about the same as the spread from the 6-223 to the 6 TCU? Jeff

Jeff- It looks as is the 6x47 AI will, on average, beat the 6x45 by 100 to perhaps 150 fps. (One load with the 80 grain Sierra was in the 2900 fps range; my 6x45 does 2700. But this load was showing some pressure signs, and I only had 3 rounds of it loaded. So perhaps with a select load, the difference can approach 200 fps -- but that may be wishful thinking) Granted, a coyote will never know the difference. I have worked with the 6x47AI very little so far due to this being a very hectic time for us, but once the holiday madness subsides and things get back to normal at the shop, I hope to wring it out a little more. Hope everyone has a great holiday season...
