So, we have decelerator grips and myriad muzzle brakes; has anyone tried adding barrel wseights like some target pistols have?

You could add one or 15 split collars to the barrel, but I've no idea what it would do to the harmonics.

Here is a picture of the inside of my forend on my Contender. I added 5 pieces of lead, inserted into drilled holes, for a total of 8.3 ounces of weight. At the time, I had a 24X rifle scope on a .222 Rem barrel and wanted to keep the scope out of my eye. It seemed to work rather well at reducing recoil. I have used it during bench shooting of 7-30 Waters and 35 Remington and it sure helps steady things on the bags. But don't even think about carrying it on a hunt.....WAY to heavy. Nashcat

cas I haven't had any problems with the dovetails getting loose and I've put several hundred 35Rem through it. The added weight is real close to the weight of a harris bipod and people don't seem to have trouble with mounting them to a forend. Weight is weight. The dovetails don't know the difference between a bipod and lead inserts. If they ever begin to shoot loose, I'll be the first to post it here to let everyone know. Nashcat
