Help with selection of new Encore - caliber?

I have no experience with the T/C Encore; but I plan to acquire one for hunting (deer, wild pigs, and possibly black bear). I'm considering .270 Win, 30-06, .308, .300 WSM or .300 Win Mag. I would appreciate the advice on these questions of anyone with experience with the T/C handguns:

(1) As to recoil, I have had no difficulty in handling a Ruger .454 Casull revolver or a .44 mag. at the range without any muzzle brake. How big a step up in recoil would the 30-06 class of cartridges, or the .300 mag class, be, in an Encore, with no muzzle brake? (I hate muzzle brakes. They are too noisy.)

(2) Will I experience any loss in inherent accuracy in the Encore if I go beyond the 30-06 category of cartridges (say, with the .300 Win Mag?)

(3) Would I be likely to need modifications or custom work (aside from maybe a trigger job), or a high-end aftermarket barrel, in order to get good accuracy? What work would you recommend getting, at the outset?

Have you considered a 458 Mag or a 50 Alaskan in the Encore?
One of those would be a good caliber for you on anything you would ever hunt in the whole wide world.

Think big not small.

Based on the length of the barrel I would expect you will see no benefit in a case sized larger than .308 in the various .30 cal options.
If it were mine I would go either the .308 or a 7-08.....

As skb2706 noted, there's little gain in anything larger than a .308 case. Sure, you can crank up the velocity a couple hundred fps, but you do so with increased muzzle blast, more recoil and burning quite a bit more powder for rather minimal gains. Some people thrive on that, however, and that's perfectly fine. But for me, efficiency is the name of the game -- within reason, of course.

A .308 Win. with a 150 grain Ballistic Tip at app. 2500-2600 fps from a 15" bbl. will take care of any deer to 250 yards; load up the 150 grain Accubond and black bear or hogs will be no problem, either. And, if it works for you as it has for me, the same components in my 150 grain BT load shoot virtually identically with the Accubond of the same weight -- and to the same POI.

Check out my posting in the "Big Bore" forum and user I.D. "Kamikaze". Check out the .600 Nitro Express pistol using the Encore frame and Dave Van Horn barrel.

(4) There will be some hearing loss unless ear protection is used. Seems like the shorter the barrel, the louder it is.

Check out the new 375 cal JDJ built on a 444 case. Looks like a winner.

I would tend to go with skb and Bobby on this. As for a muzzle brake/break I find that they don't enough of the perceived felt recoil to warrant the trade off of increased muzzle blast/concussion. To each his own, some people like them, I don't. I have had quite a few on rifles and pistols I have traded for over the years, all the way from the T/C Muzzle Tamer to the more efficient JP Brake. The only one I ever had installed was the Muzzle Tamer on a 309 JDJ Contender Carbine. The 7-08 and 308 seem to me to be the best trade off in recoil and the performance they offer in a 15 inch pistol form. I have both and they are as accurate rifles.
