Does anyone have an aftermarket 300 Whisper - 300/221 of 12" or longer [preferably 14"] that they want to sell or trade? I have one on order, but it will probably not arrive until well into the season.

Please e-mail me at starivout@aol.com if you have one to sell. [Big Grin]

Email or call Ed Kirkpatrick, I know he's got a 14" blue 300 Whisper and just a few days ago had had a SSK or two but not sure on the lengths.

Sean, It's not evident to me why this fella doesn't like his 300 Whisper, but he says he'll trade/sell it. Go over to the pond to check him out....... Gary T.

Gary,

I ckecked out the post and e-mailed the fella in question. He said that he is still going to give it a try, and that he has another interested party who is first in line. Like you, I am not at all certain what his problem is, other than perhaps his unfamiliarity with the round and how it works [Wink]

So, on Ike's recommendation, I called Ed KirkPatrick, and he did in fact have a Super 14" 300 Whisper in stock, so it is now mine [Big Grin]

Being a 1-10 twist, it will not use the subsonic heavy loads like the one I have on order will, but it will get me through deer season, and will also help me in my innitial delvings in learning to load for this cartridge. As always in my personal experiences, Ed Kirkpatrick is easy and wonderful to deal with. I called him and left a message on his machine, and he called me right back within 20 minutes [Big Grin]

FYI, Ed also has two 24" full bull Custom Shop barrels in 300 Whisper, one for $240.00 in SS, and one for $230.00 in blue, and he also has a 10" blue for $190.00.

I have always been fascinated with this round, and it's potential to be used in a similar configuration to my Bellm 22mag 14" pistol with thumbhole grip, bipod, floated forend, and rifle scope, and so here we go [Big Grin]

The 1:10 twist will stabilize up to 200 gr. bullet. I used Sierra 190 Matchkings in a M.O.A. 30-221,10" barrel gun at about 1100 fps. Shot a 79x80(Last ram) at the 1998 IHMSA Internationals in Oakridge, TN. I use a MOA in 32-20(.308 bore) now, and it also has a 1:10 twist. It also shoots bullets up to 200 grs. very well.I have a feeling it will shoot the 220 MK, but I don't believe it will stabilize the 240 MK.
Good shooting,
Melvin Calliham

My .30 Herrett will not stabilize the 220 Matchking. 1-10" twist as well.

Sean,

I stopped by and saw Ed after work today, he said you'd called and got the 14" blue Whisper, I saw it a few days ago and it's a really slick looking barrel.....you'll be pleased.

For those who may be interested he also has a 10" stainless factory TC (not Fox Ridge) Contender barrel in 300 Whisper, it's got a 1 in 10 twist and it's used but in excellent shape he's asking $185.00 + $6.00 shipping for it.

We're doing a show this weekend in Okla. City so the 10 incher probably won't last past the weekend, if anyones interested they better give him a buzz.

Sean, Good to hear thing's have worked out so well, and so quickly, for you. [Big Grin] Funny, the guy at the pond said he wanted to sell the barrel, but changed his mind when he had an offer. [Confused] Those long barrel Whispers sound iteresting to me, but I'd better pass for now. I'm very pleased w/ my 12" VVCG 300/221 and have considered getting a carbine/rifle length Whisper barrel for my son to start deer hunting w/ next year (he'll be 9 y/o then), but haven't made a final decision yet. For one thing, I'd like to see his hand grip get stronger as he can't open a Contender action yet. [Razz] Gary T.
