Sorry Paul, i know you have the "Cast Bullet" forum but want to pick the brains here....

Anyone tried cast bullets in your 7TCU, 300x221, etc...

This one looks like it would work well...

how about 120-175 gr cast bullets in 7TCU and 7-30 Waters. All of MY T/C's are fed a steady diet of cast bullets. Jacketed bullets are only for checking accuracy before I start working up cast loads. Really hard to wear out a barrel that way.

What kind of accuracy are you getting with the cast bullets?

What velocities are you running these bullets to?

TIA

MSSMagnum. I see you have checked out the site. I have gotten great accuracy with cast bullets. This is why I am in the bussines.
To give you an idea of what can be done with cast bullets. This past weekend at th IHMSA regionals in Oklahoma City a freind shot 35 out of 60 half scale targets with a .308 win these were not my bullets but I did not mind he bought some of mine after that.
My experice at the regionals was 40 out of 60 with a T/C in 30br and 200gr bullets. Even with no sight adjustment after Turkeys. In the shoot of at 200 meter checkens which when we lazed themthey turned out to be 235 yards wich is slightly greater. I hit 4 out of 10 when my spoter and I checked the targets hit via spoting spoting the groupwas no more than 2 inches.
Contact me either by e-mail or phone and I will help you chose. At the moment I am shut down waiting for new casting equipment and modification of moulds I should be up and running in two weeks. I do have some bullets in stock so I may have some for you to try.
Call toll free in the evening between 7 and 8 pm Central time as that is when I schedule no internet time to plan the next day. I allso have a new style 30 cal that I will be working on. The number is 1-866-274-4452

The 300 Whisper and it's rimmed versions do very well with cast. I use Lead Heads exclusively and have shot numerous 40X40's, 60X60's and a couple 80's. In general, accuarcy is right around MOA which is fine for the steel bending game. I prefer the 200 grain, shot supersonic in the 1300-1400fps range. I use 3 TC's, a Bond custom XP-100 and a BF falling block.

Gas checked bullets are available from 150-205 grains

I am in the process of going down to a true whisper (subsonic) to try TACO style without eating the gun.

FWIW, LH's 35-200G also shoots near MOA from my DW but that's not for this list.

In 7, I have tried the Lyman product at 140gr I think and the LH at 150 and the LH seems better in my 7US, but I haven't gotten too deep into it yet.
