Anyone here shoot a 256 Win Mag? What's your opinion of it?

I had an early T/C 4 digit ser#, it had a 256 win mag barrel, pitiful little cartride, there are a bunch of much better caibre's out there to play with. Just my oppinion, didn't cost a penny to ask and if you had not, I wouldn't have said a word about it.

I had a barrel, dies and a little brass, but never fired it. Don't remember why.. think I started playing with the 270 REN and sold the 256.

The 256 is a neat little round in the way a 25-20 is, nice in a little lever gun. As far as contenders go, most people see it as too much "in between". Not big enough where you should be using it for medium/big game, and not fast or flat enough for varmints at a good distance.

Forming brass can be a pain, though you can buy it formed.. some people think for to much $$$
