From the 10" TCU, you'll have to restrict your range as the starting velocity certainly won't be eye-popping. But the bullet WILL open up down to around 1650 fps or so -- and it will do so extremely consistently. I prefer the 120 grain BT, the Hornady 120 grain SSP (#22811, the tipped version) or the 130 grain Sierra SSP. But the latter is extremely borderline from a 10" barrel, and I wouldn't recommend it. But from the 14" 7-30 or similar cartridges, it works like a charm.

I used the 140 NBT from a 7X30 14" Hunter (12 7/8" of bbl). No problem with expansion even at 200 yards. Muzzle velocity was probably around 2200 fps, if that (never chrono'd it). From what I saw it is a good bulet at pistol velocities. Rob

I have taken 2 deer with the 140 NBT they did a great job both lung shots and both droped within 50 yrds.but then I'm one that believes heavier is better for hunting trckr
