I am in the market for a new barrel in 30 Herrett. The question is who makes the best barrel? Should it come from Bullberry, Fox Ridge or some other? Thank you in advance for your input.

That is the question of the day. Who is best, depends on a whole bunch of stuff. Are you in a hurry or can you wait, etc..... I will put in my .02 and say that I would spend a few extra bucks and go full custom. I would say that Foxridge is more in the way of a factory chamber outfit as to a full custom shop, don't EXPECT great results there. Not beating them down but the only custom part is the chambering, every thing else is the same as their factory standard barrels.

I have liked the 30 Herrett since it came out, and have owned several barrels for it.
The T/C barrels are fine, except the throats are WAAAAAAAAY too long. No bullet made comes close to the rifling!
I am sure several makers do a good job, but the one I have now is a Bullberry carbine barrel. I love it! It is very accurate. I use 110gr. round nose (30carbine) bullets in it for deer and 110gr. hornady's for vermin. I bought some 30 cal. sabots to try in it, but haven't shot any of them yet.
Let us know what you end up buying, and how it shoots.

What kind of load and velocities are you using to hunt deer with the 110 grain bullet?
Surely the Herrett (10" or 14") can equal the velocities of the 30 carbine and a lot of deer have fallen to a well placed shot from one of those!

I think I will try some out of the 10" Herrett this weekend! I have run 115s (CGC FN) up to 2100 fps easily out of that barrel so It may just work. Heck who knows one of those 115 grain CGC flat nose 32-20 bullets at 2100 fps may well work as well as the 110s if I use the right alloy (soft, but not TOO soft). May have to carry a back-up rifle if I test that one!

I remember reading one article of a bunch hunting in TX way back in the 10" barrel only days and they were using 110s for deer and hogs and the article seemed real positive . . . . Hmmm wonder if I have that artilce squirreled awa some place handy?

Oh gosh not a new thing to try 1 week before season . . .
Oh well that is why one keeps the tried and true stuff available!
