Could someone tell me what would be the best twist rate for the 40/44 Woodswalker? Would it be the same 1:16 as the 10mm auto?

http://www.shilen.com/calibers.htm Take a look here. I have no experience with 40 cal rounds. But I have used this page as a guideline for 6.5 and 30 cal. rounds Rick

Thanks Rick, Shilen is using 1:16 in there 40...10mm barrels. I guess this will be fine for the 40/44. I didn't want to press my luck by asking JD Jones what twist he is using for this round. But I may end up getting the barrel from him anyway. There really isn't that many good jacketed bullets for hunting with this round. Maybe Hornady 180XTPs, but I know the hard cast 170gr SWC and the 180gr RNFP will do a number on just about any game I plan to hunt as long as I can get them to shoot.

Jules I went through that article again last night & it didn't mention rate of twist. I know that besides the 300 Whisper JD uses a faster twist on some of his barrels. I would try to find out or go with SSK on this if you can't find the twist rate. It would stink to get the barrel with the wrong twist rate & not shoot well. Don't want money wasted on a project. I don't know where to look for info on this one either. The standard rate of twist may not apply since the cartridge is generating more Fps( only a guess). Rich Jake
