I have a 14" SSK barrel in 6mm JDJ#2, it's stainless and has a 3 ring T'SOB mount. Here's the kicker, the barrel is engraved:

" Custom Crafted For Gary Sitton By JD Jones"

For those who don't know, Gary Sitton is a well known writer. SSK says they did build this barrel for the real Gary Sitton.

The barrel is 85%-90%.....any guesses as to what it's worth?

IMO, its worth what ever a standard SSK barrel is worth. I have/had a couple exactly like that from SSK with the same engraving for Sitton.

Is he still alive? If so, he must have gotten out of Contenders, because the two I have shot did shoot extremely well. Better in fact than any other SSK barrel I have ever shot. I began to wonder if JD “selected” perfectly chambered barrels for the writers.
I have two 6.5 JDJ. The standard one I ordered does ”. The Sitton engraved barrel shoots dime size groups. A 222 Rem “Sitton” barrel shot under ” with almost every load I tried.

I'm not sure if your planning on selling it, but if you shoot it, I'd like to know how it shoots.

Mark, do you suppose that JD actually did any of the "custom crafted" machine work at all?

It's not stolen......in fact, I take very strong offense to your insinuation! I don't buy stolen goods or anything that is even questionable..... people who do so keep thieves in business and I despise thieves! It's not at all uncommon for writers to sell off guns that they have tested.

Gary

Yes, it's worth at least what any other SSK barrel is worth.....but, I'd guess that it might bring a premium if listed on eBay??? Strange, but I've never read an article about Contenders by Sitton???

Mike

I have no idea if JD did any of the work......why do you ask???
