Here is my 15" barreled 308 win Pachmayr Dominator, topped with a Burris 3-12 in Leupold QRW rings, with laminate wrap around fingergroove thumbrest grips on a Kimber frame. This setup easily groups under an inch at 100 yards from the bench, and near that from my rested field positions.

It is pretty simple in design. It uses a 3-lug bolt that you turn with a small bolt handle on the rear of the action, with a bolt face that is very much like a shell holder. The large wedge of steel in the front of the action acts as an accurizing adjustment wedge between the frame and the barrel. For a tight fit, you spred the wedge further apart until there is firm pressure on the underside of the barrel when assembled. This way, the system works on a variety of 1911 actions with all of their manifest tolerance differences.

When I shoot it rested and do not have time to set up a proper bench rest with sandbags, I often use the Millett pistol rest in the pic, and rest it just as shown, adjusting for elevation with the elevation wedge in the rear of the rest.

Jules, Greetings! Nice pics & guns! Question: Who did the non-laminate wood grip in pic #1, and who did the Encore grip in pic #3? The rest looks like Ol' Georgia Jim work, exceptional from what I hear. I'd like to try his stuff sometime.

I have a bunch more Contender frames of various vintage I came into last year that I need grips and forends for, and one more Encore, and I like both of those in your pics.

Sean, Don shearer did the one in pic #1 and Jim did the one on the 444. He installed the maple forend tip and grip cap at my request. Both Don and Jim do a super job thumb

I believe this is the subversive work of the ETHP.
They will now ask "What to your way of thinking is a handgun".
I'm not going to fall for this.

Believe me when I tell ya I did not post these to get a response from the Butt Pimple.
Now the rest of the folks,I actually give 2 s**ts about. Him ?He is the Definition of S**T.
There are fools and then there are real folks. Lets hear from the guy that started this thread. He asked for pics and the good people answered his call, the Butt Pimple just squatted and lifted his skirt. We all know he/she is just a jealous fool.

And before he posts back,,to quote...
"DO YOU THINK I REALLY CARE?"

Nope, just the same as us about you.

I don't see much to get impressed about. Many own large caliber Ristols, Pifles, or what ever people want to call them.

I think they are so purtey. You guys ought to be happy.

If any of you want to continue this I will be glad to on private messaging. Not on here.

Thanks. My wife is from the Dayton area, we live a couple of miles from the Cincinnati airport. That pic was taken at the Crittenden silhouette range.

Silhouette is my passion...I run 5 practice days and 2 matches per month at Crittenden. I am very active on the IHMSA forum, under the same name.

IHMSA80X80, where is the Crittenden range? When are the practice days for silhouettes? I have a really hectic schedule, but would like to give the game another try. I have a 7mm TCU and a .357 Mag - both 10 inch barrels. Thanks.

Crittenden is about a half-hour drive from the Cincinnati airport. Take I-75 south from Cincinnati toward Lexington, stay on it past the I-71/75 split, it's about 6 miles from there. Take the Crittenden Exit 166 (also state road 491), go left til the road comes to a "T". Turn right on 25, go through town (it's very small) turn left across the RR tracks on state road 491. About 200 yards past the tracks, turn left to the range. You'll see a clubhouse, just follow the gravel road left of the clubhouse to the range, about 500 yards away.

Silhouette practice is every Friday, 10am-5pm or later, and also usually the Saturday before the 4th Sunday of the month. Practice costs $5.00 for the day. Matches are the second Saturday and fourth Sunday.

Come on out if you get the chance...we have Big Bore, .22, Field Pistol, Half-Scale and Fifth-Scale, auto-reset targets, and covered firing line.
