Anyone have any thoughts on a good brand of shooting gloves. I have been putting 10 rds a day on my 309JDJ trying to get ready for the fall bear hunt. My right palm is starting to get a little sore. Rich
I cant help ya with the glove thing but i gots a question.....
Whats the deal on the 6.5x284? I am curious about the Encore handling it from an extraction stand point....is that going to be a problem with the 284's rebated rim??
I am curious as i am interested in possibly buildin one....
Thanks,

I never gave extraction a thought. Dave Van Horn never questioned it. Time will tell. Dave is now a week late delivering the barrel. I thought 2 week was too good to be true. Ya'll will now as soon as she arrives. Rich
Evening Guys, Guess you caught my attention. My 284 extracts pretty good, but I had problems already. Guess I tell you to hang on with a full load of 4831. Although I had a rough time with this at the groundhog shoot, think I got it somewhat ready for the next shoot. 6.5 sounds interesting, let us know.

Gloves... Look in the fishing dept of your local wallys and find a pair of fingerless neoprene gloves. They fit the hand good and tight allow a excellent grip and good cushion. About 10.00. One thing I've noticed is once my T/C or any handgun for that matter has been sighted in with the gloves on point of impact deffintly change when the glove is off. At least for me, anyone else notice this?

Sorry I guess I was over anxious. I just ckecked my records and Dave received my check on 6/18. At that time he said 2 weeks. So it has just been 2 weeks. Damn...this waiting is hard Rich PS thanks for all the advise on the gloves. I will check out Wally-world after church on Sunday.
Yeah its works. Never needed one with my .44s but once I moved up, and got old, the pain simply forced me to wear them. The handboomers will put a hurt on you if you make them go "BOOM" enough..........good shooting........................J
Another vote for the Past Gloves. I use them on the .45-70, FA .454 and the Encore .50 AK. On these they help a lot so I imagine they will work equally well on the milder .309 JDJ. However, I have never used them on my .309 JDJ so cannot comment directly.

Hook,
Makes sense to me. I used a soft winter glove once even with a .44, with a short barrel, Blackhawk frame and 300gr loads. Helped a lot in the accuraccy department, too. But aren't you afraid that the some of the clowns from the Gun Ownership and Politics forum might read this? They'll never let you hear the last of it.

No recono, Ive banned myself from that fire. Funny how you were the only one with the brains enough to see thru what I was actually saying and not to take that computer screen to personaly.
Anyway, I'll apologize to you anyway for some of my comments. You are a veteran, a Constitutionalist, and a defender of the 2nd. And to me that spells "character". That "Politics" section is starting to remind me of the U.N. with some of the Anti-Yank tripe being puked out. All we need is the Blue Helmuts and before you know it some socialist/commie scumbag will be trialing and convicting our boys before they even hit the courtroom.
Well, I dont even want to get started............good shooting to you...........J

My own opinion is that a LOT of people understood you and agreed with you, probably most of the posters on this site, but most of them were too disgusted by your detractors to want to actually get into a discussion with them.
There are probably a few who agree with you but don't care for your style, but then some of us don't care for their style, either. On the "10 Reasons Cops are Different" thread on the Politics forum, I made a comment something like "Where the fuck is the draft when we need it?" It may have been over the head of the person to whom I addressed it, but he was apparently a prosecutor and more or less a good guy who was simply allergic to hearing male Americans speak the way some of us do when women aren't around. There really was a quality of the armed forces (and some other institutions) that they introduced a lot of young men to cultures slightly different from their own. We're going to miss that. Now the main unifying feature of the culture is the pervert-dominated boob tube and movie industry.
Oh, well. Just wanted to air my opinion that a lot of people here probably agree with you. They just don't bother saying so.

I have been using a pair of Uncle Mike's Shooting gloves for three years and find them to be as good as the PAST without costing as much
They use a Velcro wrist closure, and mine are the Saddle Tan cowhide gloves with partial finger extensions (Pictured). They use a shock-dissipating gel insert protects web between thumb and forefinger from impact without affecting grip, and have the padding on the BACK of the middle finger where it protects the knuckles and joints.
