i know you can shoot a 45 colt, 454 casull out of a 460 encore barrel.

has anyone shot a 460 or 454 round out of a 45/410 encore barrel?

tc tech said it was not recommended and did not elaborate.

He's right don't do it.
One of my friends shoots onle hot 45's from his FA mod 83. He has the interchangable cylender for it. He gave me one of his loads to try in my TC 45/410 and one shot was all it took to realize the limits of the contender. Everything came apart. The gun sprang open the forarm flew off.
That was 16 years ago and since then I have become more of a big boar revover nut myself.
I can only imagin what would happen if I put one of the .454 I currently load for my mod 83 in the tc. The do fit in the chamber but you could'nt pay me to do it.

the encore handles a lot more pressure than the contender, in fact they make 460 barrels for the encore. however i plan on following the tec's advice.

A friend of mine "HAD" a 460 barrel for his encore pistol it was brutal and he traded it off. It was not ported.

I have a ported 460 barrel and some would consider it brutal as well. I'm sure a 460 round would blow up a Contender on the first try.

I found the 10 inch 454 barrel a little too nasty for my taste. My Encore is a rifle these days.
