I have a 10inch 7tcu barrel that I would like to rechamber to 7x30 waters. Does anyone know who does this, or is it less expensive to just purchase a 7x30 barrel new?

Howdy! Well, I know several who could do this rechamber, but I would ask, why in a 10" barrel?

In a 10" barrel, the 7tcu is far more powder efficient than the 7-30. I'd just find a 14" or longer 7-30 to purchase, and sell or trade the 10" 7tcu.

I'm having mine rechambered by On Target Tech(MBMco). The reason that I'm rechambering the 10" barrel is to get rid of the really long throat & hopefully help in the accuracy department for the 120 Grain bullets. As far as velocity is concerned Sean maybe right. I will find out for sure if that is the case. I figure that I should be able to still get between 2100 - 2200 fps. Which will be a good compact hunting barrel in that length. Iwill post my results on both accuracy & velocity once I get a chance to work up some loads. You could also go to any of the other aftermarket custom barrel makers for the rechamber. good luck if you go through with your plans.

I read the same column about the 10in 7x30, I thought it was pretty impressive. I already have a 14inch barrel,it was the article that has me interested in the 10incher, plus the 10inch barrel will be easier to carry. With a good chamber the shorter barrel should be very good, plus I have another 7tcu in 10 and 14 inch that I use to shoot IMHSA with. I have a lathe just don't have a 7x30 reamer.

Dirttracker,

You indicate that you have a lathe, but don't have a reamer. Another option you might consider if you decide to go forward would be to rent a reamer, and do the rechamber yourself. If that is an option you would feel comfortable with, you can follow the following link. Reamerrentals.com
