In case you didn't know, you can once again get the old-style solid base spitzers in a few select diameters and weights. Originally only seconds were available, but now first-run bullets can be had as well. A while back, I procured some of the seconds in .30 caliber, 150 grain format, and they shoot beautifully in a bull-barreled .308 WCF. But I just finished some shooting with my 20" Bullberry (Contender) carbine in 7mm BB using the 140 grain solid base bullets and Re-15. So far, the worst 3-shot, 100 yard group has been .520 (no, that's not a typo). I don't know how long they will be available, but I do plan on stocking up, even though they cost a tad more than the Ballistic Tips. The aforementioned load develops a little under 2500 fps, and a few quick expansion tests indicate that at this modest velocity, they'll perform perfectly on deer inside of 250 yards --and that's about as far as I'd ever shoot with my little carbine anyway.
