Davit_MJules,
The Matt finish does look nice, but I personally prefer the stainless version

due to corrosion resistant nature.
Are you getting a barrel that is ported, or a straight barrel?

Did you call him to make the order? I've written him with a couple of inquiries & haven't got a response. I know sometimes it takes a couple of days to hear back.

<Fireball>Rich....funny I have not heard back from him but it does take him two or three days sometimes.
I ordered a contender Bull Barrel fluted with a screw on muzzle brake...with a cap so when the brake is not wanted we can unscrew it and install the cap. I would guess the brake will put it OVER 16" long. It is a Matt finish and I want him to install a matching matt finish weaver 6 screw base.
when I get his return mails I will ask him to throat it for 350-400 grain bullets.
I got to say something about this CUSTOM Barrel Bussiness! I mat get flak from you guys about it but so what. it is NOT acceptable for a vendor to be RUDE to you..it is NOT acceptable for a vendor to take 6 months to get a product out. it is NOT acceptable to wait two or three days for a return email. NOW THIS DOES NOT MEAN i HAVE A hAIR UP MY ass about any of the vendors in particular. We just put up with way to much CRAP......IF and WHEN we ever get more custom guys in competition for this stuff...you will get emails returned in hours............not days.....Vendors are not going to give you a line of crap because they dont like you ordering dies from them for which they did not chamber the barrel for...Competion will get most of these guys doing quality work faster and with a better attitude..Ok off my soap box now.
Oh and for the guys that just get on your knees and pray to the BIG SSK GOD in the sky.....Their have been many complaints this year about his attitude towards the customer.

<wildcat51>Fireball I agree. And this from a person that does not like to become involved in politics. I got wrapped into a 7 month wait on a barrel just this past spring. I had to suck hind tit and eat my pride a few times. It was either that or I got threats to send back the parts. Hell of a way build customer loyalty. Never, never, will I ever trust that person again with another project.

My recent dealings with Gary Reeder were postive. It took a good 8 weeks to get my barrel. The price of course was about $100 more than Van Horn. But the price in this case was not the only factor. I wanted a improved wildcat based on a case that I could buy cheap. I was given a choice of barrel blanks, I choose shilen. Custom redding dies that closely matched the chamber. Plus he told me that he performed an accuracy test on the barrel. Time will tell. I will be working up loads in the next few weeks.
