We were living in Missouri when they tried to get the concealed carry through.... '98 or '99, whichever it was. I didn't think the state would ever get it past Kansas City and St. Louis.
ABSOLUTELY GREAT FOR YOU FOLKS! GLAD YOU GOT IT!
But you still have to go through law enforcement to buy a handgun. Think you can get rid of that? It would make a GREAT state that much better.

Will Missouri be "can issue" or "will issue" state for the permit? Can issue could still get sticky because the final decision on granting a permit or denying it will still be left up to the locals. Oklahoma is a "will issue" state. Once you pass the required course and the background check, the locals have no choice in issuing or not. Oklahoma is extremely concealed carry friendly. The legislature even went as far as passing an anti-harassment law that says if you are questioned by a cop and show him or her your permit, they cannot even ask where the weapon is unless you are being placed under arrest. This was done to stop redneck locals from hassling someone that is completely legal just because they don't think anyone should carry.

Big congrates!!! Pa is kinda like Oklahoma we area must issue state.. But unlike Ok we dont have to pass any course just have to pass the background check.. Now only if ALL states would regonize each others ccw all would be good...
Glad to hear it passed as I am in TN and may cross the border at times and hope ya'll will honor the neighbor states, TN is like TX where I got my Carry Permit. Most states will honor the others if they have the same or higher requirements, IE:TX take a class pass the test and shooting test, & backround check get the Permit. TX does make you certify with a revolver or auto and only the AUTO guys can carry either one. I have to take the TN course this month and certify here as a new resident since they will not transfer the CCP like a drivers Lic.
Good luck and I'm sure the crime will go WAY down as it has in all other areas. Gov. Ann Richards vetoed the TX permit and it got her out of Office on the next go round!!!
Bet ya'll have a new elected one nextr time also!

This new bill that goes into effect in October is a shall issue. The sherrifs department has 45 days to perform the background check. If they do not get the results back from the feds by then, they have to go ahead and issue the permit.
I like that law to keep the police from hassling us, but I read through the bill again and there isn't anything in there about that. I guess they could still give us trouble if they wanted.
I read in the Springfield paper that the new law says that if you are over 21 you can carry a conceled weapon in you car without meeting the CCW requirements. That is what I was interested in.
