I have located an original XP in 221 fireball single shot with plastic stock. Doesn't look like it has been shot much at all. Bolt face is clean. Can anyone give me a price range as I will probably end up with it. Thanks.

Tommy, I passed on one just like this at a gun show a few weeks ago for $450. Scope and all, but it was a 223. Folks on here said it was a steal for that price. http://www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976255448.htm

Tommy, I passed on one last weekend for $325. But was not even close to the gun you are looking at. It WAS a 221 that had been reamed to 223, 10", thumbhole laminated stock, leupold base no rings. I figure the stock at $100 and that action at a little under $200 so I figure he was about $50 to high? Anyboby know what XP actions are worth? On what you are looking at I would say $350 would be a steal, but reality check would be in the neighborhood of $450? Jeff

Jules I only bought the SS contender so I could keep the frame. Sorry. I only needed one more frame and that is my story and I'm sticking with it. More excided about the xp. In the "old days" I bought two xp's from a jobber for $67.50 and made BR rifles from them. I have been wanting one of the old ones for quite a while. The fellow I'm dealing with is a sharpy and has underpriced the xp about third to half what it is worth and I'm really going to enjoy the XP
