The 6mm International (6-250) is a 250 Savage necked down to 6mm. Dies are available from Midway for 45.00, and VVC chambers for it. I have no experience with it, but it has been popular with the benchrest crowd.

I just looked at almost the same thing but dies were way too pricey. somebody said the 6mm international for $45.00 thats good. I looked at the standard 6mm-250 based on the 250 savage. The dies were too pricey for me. I wanted to stay with standard case size too have the option of converting it to a full rim case by using 444 brass. What I finally went with was the old fashion standard 250 savage. Good varmint round and a excellent 100 grain round for deer for first youth (son) gun.

Dies price is $22.00, cheap brass, good bullets and low recoil.

If you are dead set on the 6mm the idea of the 6 international sounds like a winner with pretty good price for dies.

Mine should be done some time this march. (encore with a 22" barrel)

Hi Mike. Why try to reinvent the wheel? I can't think of anything within reason that the 6BR cannot do. Easy on bbls, economical, dies available, loading data up the wazoo and my WORST one is a pistol that on a bad day in the wind will group at 3/4 inch with benchrest bullets. It's just hard to go wrong with this beauty. If you havn't tried this chambering you really are missing a treat. Regards... Gary

Not tryin to reinvent the wheel BUT AM tryin to keep this project $'s to a minimum. I just started thinkin about this and have not checked case head sizes. I have an XP-100R in 22-250 and want to rebarrel it to a 6mm without spendin a mountain of cash. I would like to add a few accurizing touches at the same time.....

MSSmagnum, If saving $$$ is an important aspect of the project, you might also consider purchase of a 6 mm benchrest "takeoff" barrel. These can frequently be had at a substantially discounted price from that of a new barrel yet still have a long life ahead of it w/ the capabitlity of excellent accuracy. Just a thought. Gary T.

6BR sounds pretty good! I am gonna see what info i can find on it. Primarily interested in shooting light bullets as this rig is my long range varminter.

I also like the 6BR. A good ole standard would be the 243 Win. Both your dies and brass would be cheaper.
If you want some accurizing touches you might consider Greg Tannel (Gre-Tan Rifles) gtrtooling.com All he does is bolt guns, and all the work is done by him and him alone. Right now he is elk hunting but will be back the 8th of November.
