Guys this forum is a Great place for information and a little general B.S. So how is it that we keep it this way? We have all seen how a good forum can go bad...maybe from Large Egos.
It would be nice to make sure this forum does not go does the Wrong Road.

I will finally add my 2 cents. Hopefully my words will mean something. The recent thread about the pond today kind of got to me. Please hear me out because I also got the boot back when it all first started.

After thinking about my actions over the past few months I have come to the conclusion that I will never lower myself to that level again. My mistake was defending someone that was not family or a close friend. Just someone I had done business with through email a few times over the years.

Mike is a man like the rest of us and is capable of fighting his own battles. When the chips are down, and it is all said and done, Mike will make decisions that is in his best interest as a sound business man should. It is no different with the Pond. Why I ever got in the middle of that I will never know. I will continue to respect Mike and everyone else in the business until they real stick it in me and break it off. But that has not happened yet.

In away I wish both forums had a free flow of information again. I still read the posts at the pond but still don't post. I thinking about away to try to change that if possible.

May God bless everyone and their families.

It's all about the gentlemen on the board. I've looked at other boards, and even others on this site. None of them have the flavor that this one does. Mostly because we treat each other like we'd want to be treated?

I think the key is that we treat each other with respect while still speaking freely -- and that we are able to do so without the great one either approving of or deleting the post. There's lots of experience on this board, and it seems we can work out of any kind of shooting dilemma with the help and encouragement of fellow shooters.

That spirit is the very substance of which Mike Bellm is so known and respected for: he shares more info in a month's time than most of us could ever comprehend. And he does so for the sole benefit and perpetuation of the sport.

And it is contagious: good or bad, shooters here share their experiences and help us all in the process.

I agree with you Wildcat.......BUT thier are two sides to EVERY story! And the real story here is Most just left because they were not allowed to Discuss thier opinions.......Thier was ONLY one opinion allowed at times.....Sorry But as a Christian... Beating down another for thier opinion is NOT what we should have others see in us now is it??? And instead of telling everyone else they are WRONG about something we should try to walk with them and understand. Not that many users were thrown out of the pond...they left feeling they were not allowed to voice a opinion...remeber these are NEWS groups...Forums........OPINIONS ALLOWED.
Without the the Users you have NO FORUM.
I have not been thrown out and do not plan on doing anything to get thrown out.......But I will DISAGREE with GB when I feel he is wrong or I just do not agree...Seems here that we are allowed our respective opinions without a warning of being cast out for disagreeing. I think the way GB wants his forum run he should have it Moderated....He should read EVERY post before it is posted. I like GB he has lots to offer the shooting comunity......But thier is ONLY one GOD and GB just don't quite fill the shoes.
So the question is HOW do we keep this Forum at its Peak? [Big Grin]

Thanks for not ruffing me up to much. Trust me I'm not letting my guard down just yet.

Agree that this forum, and the people posting on it, are the best [Razz] I have been a registered member for a few years now with not much to say until the single shot forum started up.

Owned contenders for at least 17 years. As soon as some of my custom barrels start showing up you will hear even more from me.

Sorry wildcat......was not meant to rough you up.
I liked the other forum and to a point still do.
The bossman...AKA Big Catfish can really have a fit if you disagree or do not fit into his realm of things....worse yet their are a few..JUST a few
of the users their whom will follow the big guy right or wrong....the ones who try to copy his ways and thinking....I guess that is OK if thats what you like...I tend to think on my own...gets me in trouble sometimes........lol

Greetings! I enjoy this forum very much, and believe as others, that the attitude with which we treat one another is what keeps this forum alive and healthy!

We are all mature and responsible adults, and post in a manner befitting such station. We share ideas freely with no fear of recourse or censorship, which helps a great deal in generating the atmosphere here. We approach discussion enthusiastically and positively, and are not afraid to learn new concepts and ideas from one another, as we all understand that we do NOT know it all [Big Grin]

I wouldn't change a thing.

In short, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

Well said Wildcat51. I think the best way to keep this forum going is to concentrate on talking about shooting. Many of the posts about "The Pond" simply dredge up bad feelings and don't really add anything in the way of constructive discussion.

Just keep it open and keep it simple.
This forum is The Single Shot Pistol forum, yet when you look down the posts listing what do you see?
I don't think Saeed is going to start throwing us out if someone posts some info on reloading here instead of the reloading forum or if someone else wants to talk about there favorite rifle.
The other day I got an email from someone wanting info on an XP100, not knowing the answer I suggested they come here to pose the questions, stating that there was some pretty knowledgable folks here who would be more than happy to help out.
I've been on this forum since it started and have gotten to know some of you guys and have invited my friends over too, its a great place.
You guys aren't in my living room but you are in my shop and I'll pop in here 4-5 times aday just to take a break from the routine and see whats going on. It would be pretty boring really if all we were allowed to talk about was single shot pistols I mean T/Cs are great and interesting but come on.
Occasionally me or someone else will stick a foot in there mouth, and I would expect some good natured ribbing thats what it's all about, that's what friends do. On the other hand if I say something wrong or am misunderstood I wouldnt expect to be flamed or ridiculed to the point of no longer taking part in the discussions, unless of course it was just completly out of line or vindictive to some one (yo mamma, that sort of thing)
And when the topic turns to fishing (as in the pond)? Well I'm sorry, but its really hard not to jerk on the line a bit, it's just to easy.
The reason big fish fall off thier high horses is because thier iron fist makes them loppsided.
OK thats all. I'm going out to the range now, today I'm going to shoot my little ruger 44 carbine, i have some loads that aint accurate in the T/C so i'm going to burn them up in the rifle.
You guys going to throw me outta here now [Eek!]

What makes these forums the best is that they aren't moderated. The forums are not a commercial venture, so no one is concerned about the sponsors being offended by certain posts. Heck, I asked Saeed to change my title from moderator to forum leader. I have never edited or deleated a post, and don't even know how to do so, as I have absolutely no interest in doing so. These forums follow gentelman's rules, you are a big boy, and if you wish to make a fool of yourself, then you are free to do so for the world to see. The converse is true in that if you see a post that you don't agree with, or care for, you don't have to read it, and you don't have to respond to it.

I believe Saeed and I are pretty much in agreement that the way the forums are set up is that folks are brought together by a common interest, whether it be single shot pistols, big bores, Africa, whatever, and then items are discussed by that group, primarily about the subject at hand, but occasionally on other topics as well. Some folks will get their pantie's in a bunch about "off topic" posts, but unlike some sights where posts are moved, "where they belong" that doesn't happen here. People will post a thread in a paticular forum to get responses from that group, not because they don't realize there is a specific forum for that type of post.

One last thing, I really like the international aspect of these forums, there simply isn't that same broad background on the other sites.

I think this forum is great. When Sean sent me an e-mail about this forum I sent out e-mails to just about everyone I knew from the other place to join in an talk about what we love most..... [Our guns and shooting them] And it's not limited to just single shots. Whether it be barrels, scopes, mounts, bullets, powder, or whatever...It all has to do with shooting. And thats what it's all about. And that's our way of having fun. We have some of the best knowledge of custom gunsmithing and reloading in the WORLD.....right here!!!! Agreed???? [Wink]
