I tried my 15" Encore barrel today with the new brake and I would recommend the combination to any who are having control problems because of execssive muzzle flip. Problem solved.

The smaller the bore size and the greater the volume of powder (especially combined with higher pressures), the more effective the brake is. So with the big bores like .445 SM, you do not get as dramatic an effect as with the smaller calibers, but it sure does make 'em much more pleasant to shoot! You cannot get away from the recoil of moving the bullet down the barrel. That component of the recoil will always be there, but the brake does jerk the barrel forward and minimize the rearward effect, literally drives the muzzle downward, and radically reduces the jet blast out the front of the barrel that otherwise propels the barrel back into your hand. That said, it takes most of the bite and sting out of shooting high recoil calibers! Go to Sean's site and take a look at the brake on the .44 Mag. barrel he was shooting. Mike

Mike's brake works well. I'm now the proud owner of Sean's 8" 44 Mag. Which brings me to a question for you Mike... Would there be much advantage to rechambering to 445SM in this length of barrel? Thanks

Rechambered to .445 SM it would double as a good flame thrower. With the volume of slower powder used, it may not be any faster than a good stiff .44 Mag. load. I would not recommend it. The 12" Hunter barrels or longer make good .445s. Mike
